I felt the same exact way. It was darker than it should have been for such a poppy song with bright colors. I loved the concept of doing a live music video though. I'd challenge more artists to do the same. Gwen pulled it off brilliantly.

It was definitely staged. The falling distracted the viewer enough to lead smoothly into the next scene where Gwen was being raised up on another set. It was brilliant, and funny.
