Britney, hands down. She basically created the pop industry as far as Asia is concerned. To this day almost every female singer here tries to market themselves as The Asian Britney Spears. Britney Jean went to #1 in my country's iTunes while ARTPOP was stuck at like #190. Even Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman spent a solid MONTH at #1 on top of the Asian Hitlist back in the day. No one else compared to her impact.

Well you obviously don't understand Egyptian pop culture. Everybody knows Shakira and she's the ultimate sex symbol here, but other than the 3 songs I mentioned, Egyptians don't use her music. They don't download her albums, they don't play on radio any of her songs except the 3 I mentioned. Get it?

Besides, Taylor (and Katy) have huge fanbases here, not among the general public, but among those who listen to Western music. One year is not enough to understand the Egyptian society and Egyptian culture.

But, Mariah didn't sold like over 1,000,000 copies in Asia from Glitter, which is her biggest comercial failure to date? I think that were many artists that did the same as Britney (i didn't knowed that people there cared so much about her so.) Plus the OP is asking which pop girl is the biggest in your country, not continent so.....

That's why I specified "listeners of foreign music", not the general public. The GP only knows Shakira out of all pop girls, consider her a sex symbol and plays only 3 songs of hers which are Whevever Whenever, Hips Don't Lie and Waka Waka. As a teenager in Egypt, I can confirm to you that nobody, whether the GP or listeners of foreign music, downloads her albums here or knows any other songs of her other than the ones previously mentioned. SO the ones that are popular here among people who actually check out Western music are Taylor and Katy.
