if BB wanna take into account the overall song performance, it should be the Hot 100 chart, which reflects the most popular songs.

Why take into account other genre when it is about one genre only.

BB could have establish a new chart - top country artist chart/ top crossover chat for that purpose

A lot of country purists here. Genres are meant to expand and reach out to more audience otherwise they'll die. I mean even Carrie seeks relevancy in the pop and AC world with some of her songs. The "country songs are just for country audience" attitude is just pathetic.

I think this makes sense. I see loads of contry songs in Itunes top100 all the time. Country fans do own computers/Iphones these days yaknow.

Now we need to figure out how to classify the songs. Good luck with this one Billboard seeing as there is barely any pure country songs left on the radio.

isnt that what HOT 100 has been reflecting? countries song that chart high there means it is crossingover and for all audience?

country chart should be for country songs only. If not why named it country?

But the Hot 100 position comes from Country songs and all the others, so how can they count it?
That is why they count airplay from other formats and sales now, so the charts go on how popular the song is everywhere.

I'm by no means a purist... But an overall chart for a genre should only count sales for genre songs and play on genre stations. It makes no sense to give WANEGBT a no. 1, because it go no play on country radio aside from a few weeks fueled by an airplay promotion. It makes no sense to count airplay from outside the genre on a chart that is designed to track songs from a specific genre.

The song is listed under ''Country'' on iTunes.
That's what they should fix, I don't think that they'd count them if it was under ''Pop''.
