KoB's 2009 Presents: Top 25 Non-Singles of 2009!
25. Kid Cudi - "Sky Might Fall" (From:
Man On the Moon: End of the Day)
- The man is pure Hip-Hop genius, and this was the first Non-Single from the album that pricked up my ears, and made me download the full album.
24. Demi Lovato - "U Got Nothin' On Me (From:
Here We Go Again)
- Unexpectingly brilliant pop track, just like the whole album. Her voice is also sublime in this.
23. The Killers - "A White Demon Love Song (From:
New Moon OST)
- As much as I hate the film, the soundtrack is awesome, but this song stands out. So chillingly beautiful. Brilliant listen.
22. Little Boots - "Symmetry" (From:
Hands)
- Comparisons at their best, better than Hot n Cold. Best song from
Hands. Extreme Electro-pop at it's best!
21. 30 Seconds to Mars ft. Kanye West - "Hurricane" (From:
This Is War)
- Haunting! The best word song describe this majestic piece of music. Jared's voice alone makes this song worth the listen.
20. Alicia Keys - "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down" (From:
The Element of Freedom)
- Empire State of Mind is a brilliant song alone, but a stripped down version is as good as the original. The song is so visual, and Alicia's piano playing shines through in this song.
19. David Guetta ft. Kid Cudi - "Memories" (From:
One Love)
- Most likely the fourth single to be lifted from
One Love. I can't really put into words why or how I like this song as much as I do. Maybe it's the beat, maybe it's the lyrics, maybe it's the voice, whatever it is, you can't deny that it makes you want to get up and dance.
18. Kid Cudi - "Hyyer" (From:
Man On the Moon: End of the Day)
- The slowness, and mellowness of this song just makes me drift off into another World! The song gives me comfort and just sums up for everyone who doesn't already like him, that his music is absolutely wonderful. This song really means something to me. Minus the usage of "N***er".
17. Rihanna - "Te Amo" (From:
Rated R)
-
Te Amo means I love you. Such an overshadowed song. The beat, and sleek twist that accompanies this song just has you dancing! It's not up-tempo, but it's great to sway to.
16. Pixie Lott - "Band Aid" (From:
Turn It Up)
- From beginning to end it sounds like a late-90's pop hit. Which brings back memories of artists such as Billie Piper, the Honeyz, and All Saints. I just can't help but love this girly anthem.
15. Jordin Sparks - "Emergency (911)" (From:
Battlefield)
- I wasn't a huge fan of the album, but this song just stands out from everything else on the album to make it place this high! Jordin's attitude really shows through in this song. Great pop tune!
14. Lily Allen - "Everyone's At It" (From:
It's Not Me, It's You)
- It's a travesty that this song hasn't been released! A massive big jab at society and the way we live! Classic Lily, and nothing less than what we expect from her.
13. Jay-Z ft. Young Jeezy - "Real As It Gets" (From:
The Blueprint 3)
- Usual, fantastic Jay-Z! Half of the song is rapped and sang by Young Jeezy, which doesn't please me too much. But it doesn't matter because this massive Hip-Hop tune breaks through the barrier of Hip-Hop greatness.
12. Cheryl Cole - "Parachute" (From:
3 Words)
- My girl really did produce some cracking Pop tunes, and Parachute is no exception. With a bumper drum-roll in the background, with great lyrics written by Ingrid Michaelson. It exactly tells the story of her relationship with husband Ashley. Top-notch Cheryl!
11. Owl City - "Cave In" (From:
Ocean Eyes)
- So overshadowed by
Vanilla Twilight,
Umbrella Beach, and the rest of the songs from
Ocean Eyes. Another song with strange, unrelatable lyrics. But this song has got something else to it that hooked onto me perfectly.
10. The Black Eyed Peas - "Missing You" (From:
The E.N.D.)
- Great hookline, great chorus, and great vocals by the one and only Fergie. It's shocking that this hasn't been released as a single.
9. Kelly Clarkson - "Cry" (From:
All I Ever Wanted)
- Forget the rest of Kelly's ballads, this one tops the lot. The humility and pain that is sadness pours out in this tearful rendition by Kelly. Masterpiece! Again, why she swung for I Do Not Hook Up and Already Gone, when the monster hit that is
Cry is sitting right infront of her.
8. Taylor Swift - "You're Not Sorry" (From:
Fearless)
- Whether it's the CSI Remix or the original version, the lyrics are still beautiful, and Taylor's vocal are too wonderful to describe. You don't want to be the guy who upset Taylor after this song.
7. Cheryl Cole - "Make Me Cry" (From:
3 Words)
- Not many people like this song, but in actual fact, I love it. I love it more than Fight For This Love, and that's saying something. Great sound and beat, and I love Cheryl's voice in it.
6. Demi Lovato - "Everytime You Lie" (From:
Here We Go Again)
- This song kills! This was the song made me truly appreciate Demi as a musician. Her voice again shines through in the track. The funness and peppyness of the song is the best bit about this song. Go Demi!
5. Jay-Z - "Venus vs. Mars" (From:
The Blueprint 3)
- Jay-Z's music is too cool to explain. I love this song so much! A perfect example of the rivalry between Male and Female.
4. Lady GaGa - "So Happy I Could Die" (From:
The Fame Monster)
- So epic! Dirtiness at it's best. GaGa's descriptions of doing the dirty all on her own, makes you feel so hot and flustered, you feel as though you've just jogged a 10 mile marathon. Or is that just me. It's a club anthem, and I could not resist dancing to this! Perfect GaGa!
3. Passion Pit - "Sleepyhead" (From:
Manners)
- What have Passion Pit been doing wrong! I really had to doube check that this hadn't been released. Such a funky song, irresistible almost. The vocals not so great, but the beat is awesome. I love this terrific piece of Pop Gold.
2. Lady GaGa - "Monster" (From:
The Fame Monster)
-
He ate my heart, and then he ate my brain. Bit descriptive, I'll give you that. But hardcore pop at it's best. She really knows how to write a Pop song, and she really done justice with this gem!
1. Florence + The Machine - "Cosmic Love" (From:
Lungs)
- It took a lot of decision making for me to decide whether or not to choose
Cosmic Love, or go for the expected GaGa record. But I went for the Underdog. While songs such as
You've Got the Love,
Kiss With a Fist, and
Rabbit Heart are getting all the hype, I was devoting all my attention to this beautiful record. Florence really delivers with this heart-pounding chant.
