some of you guys are full of crap. you do realize how hard it is to get into the country legally, right? you know how it takes YEARS? and that some people can't SURVIVE THAT LONG? are you really gonna condemn people to having terrible lives for years with little escape or condone sending them back to their old lives once they escape? and it's usually because of xenophobia too, about how they're apparently rapists or drug sellers or something. i don't understand why people have so little empathy

If everyone at the south of border was Caucasian, the same issues would still apply, so I don't what your point is?

There seems to be a discrepancy between the act and people already here in this thread. People entering are breaking the law, and granted if they're caught crossing they should be sent back unless they're asylum seekers. But people already here, who have been here for years, they are part of America and should be afforded representation. They're paying taxes and acting as part of our society. Removing them destroys families and lives since children would be Americans; they should be allowed naturalize because it's what's right, not what's convenient to people hypothetically worried about competing for a job at McDonalds.

It's hard for a reason.
Why should someone who can't even speak the language thats printed on our ballots be allowed to vote

The fact that you believe that is bothersome. If 1000 Irish/British women and children were to be deported from Massachusetts or New York there would be outrage, communities would protest and the media would latch onto it. Something would be done or at the very, very least a loud resistance would be heard.

Let's look after our own citizens first before giving compassion to illegals

ok you're just stupid. that has literally nothing to do with anything. and it's pretty messed up to ignore the opportunity to make people's lives not hell just because you don't want to accept them into the oh-so-elite society of america. it shouldn't be hard.

Why shouldn't we be worried about the guy who needs that McDonald's job? They are paying taxes and contributing too. If anything, they should be the priority. Just b/c you've been here a while, does automatically give you participation rights. The children can leave with their parents, and birthright citizenship needs to end, because children are now being used as anchor babies.

No one ever says anything about those immigrants that are European. It's the Mexicans that get all the negative attention.

maybe because racism is an important and common problem, and people often are biased in their judgments of people from other countries because of it, which has a lot to do with this issue???

People would be outraged for the South Americans, as well. And plenty people of all races would support the action if those immigrants were illegal.

Most of the countries these people come from don't afford the same things to American citizens. Why should we? Additionally, they aren't paying taxes because they aren't even on the books. So no SS Tax, no Unemp Tax, no Medicare and no income tax and the list goes on. Why should people who broke the law get special treatment over those people who went through the process the correct way? I don't have a hunt in this game but it seems to me immigration activists and their sympathizers act like these people are entitled when they've already shown a reckless disregard for the laws of the US.They have some nerve bringing their old outdated conservative anti gay ideas over to the US. They need to stay in their own country and work to improve it. Running away doesn't solve anything.
