I hope the people commending her read up on why "All Lives Matter" is actually contradictory to the "Black Lives Matter" movement. Stating "all lives matter" when the movement is "black lives matter" distracts from the fact that this is a black issue and injects white people into a situation they have no right being in. People know white lives matter. White lives have always mattered and will always matter. The point of "Black Lives Matter" is to remind people that black people are people too. The point is for the focus to be solely on black lives. In addition, "we" don't need to change. There is no "we" in this struggle or fight, the struggle does not affect white people in any way, shape, or form.
"Do you run into someone's funeral and scream 'I've dealt with loss too'" is a great way to explain what saying "all lives matter" is like during this movement. Do not make this black movement about white people. If you're white and want to help, stating that black lives matter is what you have to do. It doesn't take away from white people or the fact that white lives matter, because they do by default, it's just showing support for the people who are literally being killed for being themselves.

I understand her intentions but it shows that she's not aware of the situation. This is about black people getting the spotlight, they are the ones who are being treated unfairly.
Trying to ignore the racial issue at hand is one of the reasons why we're still far from equality.

Totally agree. I don't think she's racist or is trying to be malicious, she's just ignorant of what's going on and this tweet proves that she is jumping on a bandwagon to seem progressive as opposed to actually knowing what's going on.
