MY GOD TY. Thriller came off the back of 8 grammy wins and the biggest selling album ever. The Billie Jean and Beat It videos reinvented music videos into kind of short films that followed actual plots and had a beginning, middle and end. Before that it was just standing around infront of a camera lipsyncing to the track and cheap lighting effects. The hype is not comparable to Telephone. I hardly see or hear anyone mention Telephone outside of a few online communities. I can't believe some people are seriously likening the hype of Telephone to Thriller.
What planet are you guys from? The point is, comparing this video to Thriller in any capacity only serves to make you look like a dumbass, since Thriller was and still is revolutionary in it's content and presentation. Telephone can't be that since it's ALREADY BEEN DONE. And to the dumbass who said the anticipation is of the level of Thriller, you were obviously not even alive to witness the Thriller premiere otherwise you would not be saying that, so go lay down somewhere.
