Not sure if this will work yet but I admire that Nintendo continues to be different in a world where gaming is becoming more and more samey and boring. This could be good and Nintendo has hype currently.

Not true. Both Nintendo stans and the GP eat up the first party games, it's just that the Wii U didn't have many good 1st party games.

Smash Bros U / Mario Kart were the only Wii U games that could be described as amazing.

The Wii U didn't get a major Mario game like Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy & etc... and don't come at me saying 3D world was a major mario game, it was cute, but nothing compared to the main series games.

When playing DS games I've always wished they were playable on TV and now this could be happening

Same it's really cool.

Although, Nintendo have already done this with the GBA Player on the GameCube and the Super Gameboy for the SNES.

Maybe 3/4 years in to the systems life, but at first I think they should bundle both of them together. If they fragment the market I think it will flop a la the Kinect, PS Move.

Wait why is everyone so obsessed with console power?

I literally only buy consoles for the games. Pretty much all games have amazing graphics so what more do you want?

The first party games weren't enough to draw anyone in because Nintendo failed to capitalize on it with its launch line-up. Even the follow ups didn't generate much buzz. (Although one could say that Mario Maker is a great addition). The fact that Nintendo basically paid third parties dust didn't do them much good either.

And why would third parties even bother porting to a console who has a very small install base anyway if they get better consistent sales on the 4 and One? But that was just the Wii U. Nintendo needs to not repeat its mistakes to see better results this time around.

Early online speculation about pricing for the NX expects it to be cheaper than current consoles, but from what we’ve heard it’s going to be cheaper than even the vast majority expect. This is a machine that is targeting the mass market, and Nintendo certainly plans for it to have a mass market price. Price is one Wii U mistake Nintendo is determined not to repeat. This could be NX's single biggest win.

It's going to be really cheap apparently. Probably $199 or less.
I wonder if this means they'll release upgrades every couple of years like the iPad or something.

This doesn't really instil much confidence in people though. We all know that Nintendo abandoned the Wii U after they realised that it was a flop and so only developed one major exclusive for it (Zelda Wii U).

What if they do the exact same thing if the NX bombs?

Because technology evolves. It isn't just about resolution. You know how in games when a bunch of different NPCs move at the same time and the frame rate falls? Technology is now to the point where that doesn't have to happen. There's a certain benchmark that should be met in 2016.


Nintendo is releasing children's toys. When the competition has built in hard drives of 500GB and soon to be 2TB and Nintendo is giving you 32GB and telling you to plug in an external device, something is off.

If the NX is really going to be that cheap, I may buy one. But I'm also looking at getting a PS4 and I only have 2 HDMI ports on my tv and only one plug for games on my power strip. That real estate is going to go to the best console.

I just hope they have realized that for them to succeed they need great games from their end and the ability to play great 3rd party titles.

On one hand this could be really cute.. for the budget buyers that want the best of 3DS and WiiU. I need more deets though. On the other hand . How are they going to make the SAME mistake yet again?

They don't release enough good first party games to warrant a purchase of a brand new console, don't even get me started on third party. I can't logically see this working aside from the apparent gimmick.
