LMAO. I'm not suprised that only the foreign members (and Rico) are trying to discredit the United Ttstes's priominence in the Music Industry. There's a REASON that many foreign artists (mainly the annoying UK acts) TRY (and fail miserably unless you're Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, or Natasha Bedingfield) to cross over in the unites States. Obviously , when it comes to the music industry, we're doing something right


Most foreign acts can survive overseas, but don't last 14 hours in the U.S. Industry. FACT. Just ask Daniel Bedingfield? And isn't Jamelia still trying to get her album released in the U.S.? And don't even get me started on the NUMEROUS UK Girl groups that have supposedly been in the process of "releasing" their CD's stateside (Girls Aloud, Sugagabes? BART?)

Thank you Alexz. Like i said Madonna & Britney are big examples. Madonna's sells in the US has dropped drastically since "American Life" hurt her. "COAD" moved them back up good. We have to wait to see Britney's new sales to determine how bad she's hurt herself with the drama. but anyways.

"Confessions...Dance Floor" sold only 1.7M in the US, but 11 million the rest of the world. "American Life" sold 5M worldwide and I dare say how bad it did here. "Music" sold 3M in the US, 15M worldwide.

For Britney "ITZ" sold 3M here, 9M worldwide. Her greatest hits album sold 7M worldwide and only a million here. "Britney" sold 4M here, 13M the rest of the world.

There are MANY more examples than just them, but those are the biggest to point out to be able to sell. over that much more than the US is obvious that the US is a big market, but people could do better outside.

And what Anthony is trying to say is that many songs on radio are urban type/R&B influenced tracks (aka Black music). Like he said it takes a lot for a white pop female artist to have a #1 single on the Hot 100 and the radio charts due to all the other artists being african american with a pop sounding song, but it's still a rap/R&B song. Can you picture N*Sync or BSB type bands with pop music and the corny dance routines to still be successful today? No, unless they work with a black producer or black artist to give some kind of urban notice to get played on more than just pop radio.

You're missing the point, and I would expect you (as a black person) to understand why it sounds damn near offensive to label a DIVERSE group of music as Black Music. It's not about them being black. No one is saying OMG i love this song because the artist is black. Get a grip dude.

No i don't find it offensive to label the group as black music because I do. Yeah you can call it hip-hop, R&B, or rap, but who dominates those genres? Just like in the 80s and early 90s it was called the "black charts" because that was the only color that dominated those charts. then when the white boy rappers started coming out, and the white R&B singers they changed it where it could fit better. but that doesn't change the fact you can still call it the way it used to be called.

And you know you have to agree no song will have the same success the way it should unless it has some kind of urban inflence these days. DON'T try to deny it. Let go of your rough barrier and face the facts.
