You would think, having to go through somewhat similar troubles in today's age and time, that they would be able to sympathize with the stereotypes and unfair disadvantages presented towards minorities.
But like someone said, it's easy to tell someone to not be offended when you don't have to deal with the offense being presented.

Right!? You'd think there'd be more empathy but that's sadly not the case.

Not all of us are white and not all of us are gay. Black people hate being generalize yet the first thing black people on this site do (especially during a race thread) is bring up being gay and being white and criticize us on not agreeing you. The reality is that some of us dont see it as offensive, and no matter how you explain it, slice it, or rant about it. We dont think it was meant to be racist, but if zendaya felt it was, its her right express that. Saying it looks like her hair smells like weed and oil is a comment on dreads themselves: not her race, not the history of the people who wear dreads, but the dreads themselves. I personally thought people with dreads smoked weed because my friends who have dreads do.

Yes I am
And I wasnt telling her what to be offended by, I was saying there was no racial nor malicious intent with the comment about her hair. Guiliana (or however the f*ck you spell it) was making a comment on her HAIR, not her or her race. Saying her HAIR looked like it smelled like weed and oil is stereotypical because (and Im guilty of this too) it is often thought people who have dreads (black or not) smoked a lot of weed. It is a stereotype associated with a particular hairstyle not a race of people which is why I dont find it racist.
My original post was badly worded and arrogant but rest assured, I am not telling her what to be offended by.

We all know she didn't INTEND to sound racist, but that doesn't make it any less offensive. Being ignorant doesn't absolve you of wrongdoing. And I mean, even when you take the racial element out of it, it was still a mean-spirited comment.
If you can't stand the heat, get outta the kitchen.

I thought the comment was about her hair being hippy-ish. It definitely wasn't racially charged. I don't know why this was made into that. And I know she said something about Kylie's hair being edgy, but the Kardashians made E! basically and they back them in everything. I remember her dragging Gaga for wearing dreads on Fashion Police.

What she said was wrong, and ignorant, but it was not her intention to be racist.
And all of the people who have been making fun of her body are worse than what she said.

I mean it's kind of like she didn't tbh. Her apology is clearly self-serving and coming from a place of wanting to save face and keep her job rather than actually feeling remorse for the women she offended.

I think she just wanted people to know that her intent was not at all what people are accusing her of. But as she realizes how many people she did offend, I think she'll make a bigger statement on E!News or something.

When does E! News come on? I'm nowhere near a TV, but I need the girls to be on watch. I'm curious to see what she'll say about it today.

I'm a bit confused because weed smoking and patchouli oil do not fit black stereotypes. They fit the stereotype of 60s and 70s hippies. Patchouli oil is even sometimes called "hippie perfume"

Yeah people [Zendaya included] blew it way out of proportion.

Disgraceful that she had to apologise over nothing but a silly joke.
People really need to get a life.
