Okay, well technacilly its a Mixtape, but who cares, this mixtape was better then more then half of the albums put out this year. This album is a pure fantasy ride into something crazy. This mixtape gives me life! Starting with "Out Of Space" immideatly taking you somewhere else, Azealia does a great job of mixing club and house beats with her flow, and its shows on every track. While it does get a little of the same in the middle of the album it still manages to remain interesting. The last half of the album however is FLAWLESS and every tracks keeps you wanting more and going back to reply it. This was defintely a high light of this year, because artist like Azealia are very rare, and this mixtapes proves she has something very promising to give.
Stand Outs: Us, Esta Noche, Nathan, IMA Read, Fierce, Runnin', Paradiso

I admit, I wasn't feeling this album when I first heard it, after their second album which blew me away and how much I loved it, it just didn't feel right. Eventually it grew immensely on me! Someone pointed out to me, how much they've grown from the first two, and it made me go back and listen to it to notice she was right. This album lyrically, vocally, and instrumently shows how much they improved, and it gave me a new found appreciation for the album.
Starting with the first two tracks going so smoothly into one another and setting up the album, then going into "March Into Water", "King For A Day", and "Bulls For Bronx", three explosive tracks with King For A Day being such a fantastic song with the vocals of Kellin Quin. Then the album starts to shift mood and go into a more personal level. With "I'm Low On Gas And You Need A Jacket" being one of the best tracks on the album, and ending with Hold On Til May, my favorite.
Stand Outs: King For A Day, I'm Low On Gas And You Need A Jacket , Hold On Til May, March Into Water.

I love, love, loved this album when I first heard it. So many R&B artist are trying to ditch such a great genre, and I'm glad there is someone like Melanie to bring it back and remind people why its so great. While it can get a little jumbled and the tracklist isn't the best, the stand out tracks remain incredible.
"This Time" was a great way to start out the album, fresh, fun, and powerful. While J.Cole's rap is a little un-needed, it doesn't hurt the song that much. 4AM and Break Down These Walls follow after, with the latter being an instant favorite of my, and one of my favorite songs released this year. Break Down These Walls is pure R&B hurt, and its so refreshing to hear. Wrong Side Of A Love Song, one of my Top 20 Songs is soon up and follows the same great tone as before. We get a great collab on "Change The Record" ft. B.O.B. The middle has a few stand outs, such as "Watch Me Work", "6AM", and "Rock Paper Scissors". The ending is a little weak, and it can get a little fillery with some tracks, but like I said, the best tracks are INCREDIBLE.
Stand Outs: 4AM, Watch Me Work, Wrong Side Of A Love Song, Break Down These Walls, Bones, This Time, Change The Record.

One of my most played albums this year, because when I first heard it I RAPED that replay button over, and over. Nicki's Sophomore album brings two compleatly different genres into one, with one part being hard rap, and the other being pure Pop fluff. While it gets a little messy sometimes, I was so excited for this album and was not let down at all! It has its flaws, and I still think it should have been a two disc album, but overall it was a great listen and had some great jams.
Roman Holiday was the best opening track this year possibly. It was something I did not expect from a Nicki Minaj track. Following with "Come On A Cone" and "I Am Your Leader" two fierce tracks and probably the best rap tracks on the album, if not for "Beez In Da Trap" being the surprise stand out. HOV Lane, while there gets over shadowed by the better tracks. "Right By My Side" a great song, but it got overshadowed by "Young Forever" her best R&B track. For her Pop tracks, "Va Va Voom", "Whip It", "Pound The Alarm", and "Beautiful Sinner" were better parts of the latter half of the album. While "Champion" and "Gun Shot" being the most stand outs and surprising to listen too. I could go on and on, but I want to keep this short.
Stand Outs: Marilyn Monroe, Beez In Da Trap, Come On A Cone, Roman Holiday, Va Va Voom, Fire Burns, Young Forever

EuroPop is a guilty pleasure of mine, like a big one, and it doesn't come better then Alexandra's Heartbreak On Hold! Its just filled with great guilty pleasures. Listening to this album in the car at night driving home or anywhere was just a memory in itself this year for which ever reason. Its a great album to put on and just get you going.
Heartbreak On Hold, Elephant, and Let It Go are great ways to start off the album, Elephant being one of my favorite tracks all year. Fire, one of the best tracks on the album is exactly what the title exclaims, its FIRE. When you hear that song it just makes you want to move! "Daylight Robbery" and "Tonight" are not the best tracks, and by now it gets a little tiring, but when she comes with "Love You That Much", the album gets a new spark, with "Oh La La" and "Sitting On Top Of The World" .
Overall, its a great and fun album to really get into a fun mood, and it will never do wrong.
Stand Outs: Elephant, Fire, Ooh La La, Love You That Much, Sitting On Top Of The World.

I am so happy
I'm so glad and excited you could get more into this album
the first half used to be my favorite, because it was so energetic and in your face, but after a million couple of listens I started to connect with the more toned down songs in the second half and definitely love them as well. there is no song on the album that I dislike.
I like the standouts you picked, and I hope you have heard the alternate version of I'm Low On Gas, it blew my mind on a completely different level, and also the acoustic versions of Hold On Til May
Roman Reloaded - it's the first thing I ever heard from Nicki and I like it a lot. even though it's such a long album, I enjoy almost every song on it. the rap tracks are badass and the pop songs are fun and danceable.
Fantasea - it's a pretty good mixtape, but I haven't listened to it in a long time. I lost interest in it after a bit

I fell in love with this album gradually. On first listen, it was just great music to listen to, something different, and something fresh. Eventually it started to grow with me more personal. I started connecting to the music she was singing much more after each listen. Paloma takes you on a ride of emotion, pain, forgiveness, power, and closure with this album.
Starting with "Picking Up The Pieces", a great way to start the album, on a positive note about trying to mend a guys broken heart after he had a bad relationship. Then moving onto a more somber song "30 Minute Love Affair" , one of my overall favorites from this year, probably one I could relate to the most about falling for someone so fast so soon and losing it. "Black & Blue" , "Just Be", and "Let Me Down Easy" follow up, and what I love is each track is so different then the other giving a fresh listen every time. In fact, almost every track on the album explores different themes and sounds then the other tracks. Ending with "Streets Of Glory" a truly amazing track and probably the best ending of an album this year.
Its truly a great listening experience, and I hope you guys look more into it. Its really a beautiful and diverse album.
Stand Outs: Streets Of Glory, Black&Blue, Blood Sweat & Tears, Agony, 30 Minute Love Affair, When You're Gone

Like I said before, I was a huge Ellie fan when her first album was released in 2010, and I've been anticipating her Sophomore effort for a while now. Also, I'm greatly happy that "Lights" getting so much exposure didn't effect how her second one was going to sound. Ellie has such a unique sound to her that appreciate so much, I can't even put my finger on how or why its great, but it just works for her, and this album is a great step in quality from her first album.
"Don't Say A Word" starts the album, and while its not my favorite opening track (I would have gone with Anything Could Happen) its a wonderful tune to listen to and I can understand why they made it the opener. Glady, the second track "My Blood" is much better and the way she just chants and preaches this song is amazing! Of course you guys know my feelings on "Anything Can Happen", so lets go to "Only You", at first I hated it, but that thing or humming she does is so infectious, it ended up being one of my favorites. The first part of the album is much better then the first in my opinion, as it gets a little stale with "Joy", but gladly "Atlantis" and "I Know You Care" came to save the album.
Overall, its a great step up from "Bright Lights", and a sure favorite of mine this year. Both "Bright Lights" and "Halycon" are great albums and I love listening to them one after another.
Stand Outs: Anything Can Happen, My Blood, Atlantis, I Know You Care, Only You, I Need Your Love
