I'm pretty sure the original version sold almost the same as the remix version. Why y'all are saying the remix did it better? The remix helped to the original song to get some good position on massive charts, and after all this time:

Aside from the fact that it is a horrible remix & that it launched his career/he should be grateful...I'm not sure why he even replies to Lana fans about the song/trying to deflect the fact that it helped him get his name out there when I just saw him at Coachella a few months ago closing his set with Summertime Sadness. Years later & he is still benefiting from the song/closing his sets out with it since it's basically the only thing people know from him (and this coming from a fan of Gervais, I've seen him in Vegas several times & actually like a lot of his work). Both sides got something out of it, but Cedric definitely owes his career to this remix, Lana doesn't.
Lana stans bash the remix now, but use it for receipts when Lana's "success" is brought up. Either you use the remix, or you don't. What is it?

Okay and? Obviously she would take the money whether she liked the remix or not. It was her own damn song to begin with. If someone's profiting by remixing my song, I'd want my cut of the money regardless

He remixed a song. Every single gets remixed. INTERSCOPE decided to send it to radio.
It's not Cedrics fault that his version was released as a single by the label for some coins, as if to replace the original. And Lana didn't reject the idea of the remix being sent out. If she had said no, they wouldn't have.
Every single gets remixes. If interscope decided to release it to radio as a single itself, that's that.
If she was so against it, she would have stepped in before interscope released it.
