I think there is something not quite right about this era. She doesn't seem to have her heart in it at all.
Britney is obviously working hard otherwise there would be no video and no album but I have a feeling she is no longer comfortable in interviews which is perfectly understandable, she is probably sick of or scared that interviewers will focus on her tumultuous personal life rather than her career and her music which is perfectly reasonable because interviewers want gossip more than anything else.
I wish we could have bubbly Britney back but she has had a really hard time up until recently and it is most important for her to feel comfortable before anything else, she's gotta do what she's gotta do.
I am just grateful we are getting music period.

When was the last time my fifty year old mother went to a concert or purchased a cd, I don't remember, and since madonna isn't making music aimed at that crowd it is a big deal. You can't distance yourself from your fans when all others are up on the scene like the other artists are...

Britney is still healing. She's in a better place today than she was 3 years ago, but it's clear to me that she has a bit of reluctance to be in the public eye. And you know what? That's completely justifiable. It's one thing to struggle through a breakdown in relative obscurity, but Britney's not obscure, she's quite literally, one of the most famous women in the world. None of us could even begin to imagine what it feels like to have life unravel in such a public fashion, let alone understand the sort of embarrassment that's sure to follow once you come to the realization that your life is/was completely ****ed up and everyone knew. Does she look back at things like the VMA performance, or the fact that she allowed shady people into her life while pushing her family away, or the fact that a million cameras caught her being loaded into that ambulance, or the fact that everyone knew she was being held in a psychiatric ward, or the fact that her children were taken away from her, or the fact that she was deemed unfit to be in control of her own life and feel greatly embarrassed? Undoubtedly. For that reason, I'll always have a bit of sympathy for Britney and be understanding of her inability to "jump right back in there" and be Britney circa 2001 again. It's sort of a silly request. I think Britney is in a conflicted state. She genuinely enjoys the process of creating music and recording an album, but being a high profile artist also means that at some point it's necessary for her to play the "fame maintenance" game, grant interviews and make public appearances. But why would she want to do any of that when being famous and being in the public eye*ended up hurting her so badly? It's a necessary evil, and for the time being, Britney's only prepared to do the bare minimum. Britney's not entirely dispassionate about her career, as some people like to claim. I think she has a lot of passion for her fans, she doesn't want to let them down. She has a lot of passion for the music, she loves the recording process and is, from all accounts, a delight in the studio. Heck, I think she even has passion for dancing. However, in the wake of certain events, I think it's more difficult than it used to be for her to do all of these things with confidence. She's locked in a position of having to prove herself, and I think she's determined not to disappoint people, but this breeds insecurity within her and prevents her from performing at her true potential.
Non-fans will inevitably read this and wonder how long Britney fans will continue to use "the breakdown" as an excuse for Britney's perceived lack of enthusiasm, but the simple fact of the matter is, you don't go through trauma like Britney's and then put all of it behind you in a year, three years, or even five years. It's not making an excuse for her, it's being realistic about her recovery. And furthermore, these are just my thoughts on the subject. Other fans are likely to disagree.

In the HIAM thread, I said I stanned for her, just before the release of the song. But I don't think I can, and that's what makes me so sad. I love Britney's music, but it feels like she's so out of touch with her fans. I don't think I could ever stan for somebody if I hadn't been with them through their "golden phase". I honestly hope she can get back on her game, because maybe then people would stop calling Gaga better than her. And then I'd feel more comfortable with stanning for her.
And also just as a person, it's just a somber lifestyle. Being so overprotected, or shut out. I really, really want Britney to get better. She's almost 30 years old, and everyone is still treating her like a money making 16 year old. Maybe a long break is what she needs, maybe it's therapy. I can't judge.
But I honestly want her to recover. It's sad for anyone to watch their fav like this, and for any artist in general to be alienated from their own fans. I remember in the Circus "making of the album" DVD interview, she said dancing was her "happy place". Now watching the HIAM video, I don't even know if it's true. It's just sad. Poor girl.
And no, there is no intentional shade, or shade whatsoever in this. It may be hard to believe, but yes, I am a Gaga stan who really really likes Britney Spears. GET OVER IT.
|
Dear lord, what bunch of ******** Gerl you're not fooling me here, i can see right thru your shade.
What are you sad abou? Really? You make no sence at al. Out of touch with her fans? LOL i think she's more in touch with us than ever! SHE LOVES HER FANS. And she's on the top of her game, be sure.
What is so wrong about someone wanted to have a private and quiet life? She's not overprotected, she's just reserved she doesn't want all that media mess again. Get better? Is she sick or some thing? Who are you to say she needs therapy? Shut up.
Recover from what??? Did she had a injury or somethig? Britney is better than ever, the Circus era proved that to the whole world. Alienated from their own fans? WTF??? Poor girl???
I can see you shade gerl, and i don't like it. Don't you dare feel sorry for Britney, save that for your fave. You're starting to piss me off.

She's still gonna be remembered though for what she already accomplished in her career. Madonna will not be forgotten.

Britney seems fine to me. Obviously she isn't going to be the same way she was 8+ years ago. People change as time goes by. It seems her breakdown did change her personality a bit, but that wasn't her fault. It just happens.

See, I hate threads like this. While it is something that has been (and possibly should be) discussed, the title is just inviting trolls in to leave one-to-two sentence insults about Britney. I bet most of them haven't read anything in this thread, just the title.
And I completely agree with everything Patrick said.

I'd like to address a few things, those who are mad better listen up cause about to spill the tea, the coffee & the Diet Coke:
First of all, the lack of promotion.
All this worry is completley uncalled for. Where have you been? How dare you say Britney hasn't been here.
Who did she put out her past two albums for, despite her rough patches? - Giving us Blackout & Circus.
Who did she allow cameras into her personal & professional life for 60 days for? - Giving us an in-depth interview SHE would be comfortable in & in control of. (FTR)
Who did she tour half the mother****ing globe & perform for? - Shattering records with her Circus Tour.
HER FANS. She did it all for you. How dare anyone suggest Britney does not care.
She has stated she doesn't want to be in the spotlight as much anymore. It's understandable. She is under a conservatorship & shares custody with her ex-husband, meaning she cannot just up & go on promotional blitzes. Contracts & court dates, deals, lawyers & medicines are involved & it's a stressful process she dislikes, which is why Brit would rather only promote when neccessary. HER ALBUM ISN'T EVEN COMPLETE. Calm the **** down. Once it drops, she'll promote & if she doesn't, well then & only then is your bitching justified.
As far as personality, people grow up. They mature. Their priorities change. She isn't always going to be that bubbly 18 year old, and you know what? That's more than fine because from what I can see, she's matured into a beautiful, wiser, stronger woman & loving mother. And she has always been & still is kind to all & down to Earth.
As far as the video is concerned, Larry, Brian & Britney herself have stated she gave it her all on set & I beleive it. She looks incredibly focused, happy & determined to do her best in this video & it is one of her greatest. If you let go of all the negativity & criticality, you'd see that.
Stop beating down on Britney's spirit y'all, it isn't pretty.
