Swedish House Mafia (Feat. John Martin): Don't You Worry Child
Swedish House Mafia certainly went out with a bang: this is the best song they've released since Miami 2 Ibiza. It is literally flawless, no matter how many times I hear it on the radio (it's massive here in Canada), I never get tired of it. It's downright euphoric, I can't say a bad thing about it.

Drake (Feat Lil Wayne): The Motto
I'm ashamed to say that I didn't truly get into this song until this summer. Before, it was just another solid track on an incredible album. All of a sudden, however, this just blew up for me, way after it did for everyone else. Drake always delivers good verses, and the hook is incredibly catchy (dare I say... iconic?) Drake has inspired a phenomonem. YOLO!
The most surprising thing about this song is that it has Wayne's best verse in years. I don't know how many times I've caught myself singing that to myself. "I'm calling ****** out like the umpire" and "I wish a ***** would like a tree in this bitch" always make me laugh. Wayne needs to do more of that and less "wet *****" shoutouts.

Maroon 5: One More Night
The underrated nine week #1 smash that could. I absolutely love this song. It's been a favorite of mine ever since Overexposed came out. I liked Payphone, but after hearing it 50000 times on the radio I was more than sick of it. One More Night, on the other hand, can't be played enough in my opinion. I love the new "pop" Maroon 5, and One More Night is the epitome of their success.
This song gets a lot of hate for being "undeserving" of its #1 status, but I completely disagree for three reasons.
#1: It held off the abomination that was Gangnam Style.
#2: It avenged Payphone, which really did deserve to go #1.
#3: It's just a damn good song!
PS: Daylight is gonna smash too.

Iggy Azalea (Feat. T.I.): Murder Business
Unlike most Iggy fans, my favorite of her material is her GLORY EP. Yep, I like her commercial, mainstream hip-hop stuff the best. I'm the same with Nicki.
What first got me into Iggy was her remix of Roman In Moscow. I DON'T like ***** or Drugs or The Last Song (or most of the Ignorant Art mixtape, in fact).
I DO love Murder Business (I refuse to refer to it as "Murda Bizness"). Iggy's verses are solid and the chorus is super catchy. In addition, Tip delivers a fantastic verse that really makes the song. And the video (a riff on the concept of Toddlers and Tiaras) is awesome. It's metaphorically genius, and Iggy looks super hot with curly hair.
This is the song that really hooked me on Iggy.

Nelly (Feat. Chris Brown): Merry Go Round
I think I would have been a stan for Nelly back in the day, had I listened to mainstream music back then. (I grew up listening to country music... the horror!)
The first rap song I EVER liked was Party People, and I just heard Ride Wit Me for the first time yesterday (seriously) and I loved it.
I loved all the singles from 5.0 and his (sadly irrelevent) features on Keri and B.o.B's latest albums. (Seriously, go check out MJ). Nelly's rapping style is kind of like Nicki's: fast, but still clearly enounciated and with clever shoutouts and rhyme schemes. He's super talented, which makes it quite depressing that Merry Go Round, his 2012 comeback single, flopped horribly. Even Chris Brown couldn't save it, it didn't even make the BBHot100.
I played this song over and over and over all summer at work. Some mornings I was the only one there super early and I would just jam to this on repeat. It's SO catchy! I hope Nelly can deliver more jams like this on his upcoming album M.O.

Sammy Adams: Only One
When I heard Blow Up, I realized that Sammy was changing his sound to try to break the commercial mainstream market, which was totally okay with me. I loved Boston's Boy, but I want him to find major success even more. Unfortunately, Blow Up was really weak.
This single, Only One, was even more radio friendly, and 100 times better! It's super catchy and just a fun, summer song. I heard it on the radio here all the time this past summer and truly thought he was gonna strike it big with this and with Finally Found You, but sadly that didn't quite happen. Only One reached #33 on the Pop Songs chart. Hopefully he can do even better with his next single!

Trey Songz (Feat. T.I.): 2 Reasons
Give Trey Songz a rapper and he delivers fantastic ratchet urban jams! 2 Reasons is the perfect follow up to Bottoms Up, Trey's SMASH hit with the one and only Nicki Minaj. I actually like Trey more on this song, I wish he would do more like this. I downloaded Chapter 5 but almost fell asleep (R&B is not my thing) so instead I just kept listening to this.
Also, as usual T.I. delivered a flawless guest verse. I NEED to check out his album. He's been really impressing me this past year.

Wiley (Feat. Skepta, JME & Ms D): Can You Hear Me (Ayayaya)
My favorite UK-only release of the year. I loved Heatwave, so I rushed to check this out as soon as it dropped (especially with such an intriguing title) and I was blown away! This ***** all over Heatwave! Wiley & Co's verses are great, but it's Ms D's vocals on the chorus that lift this song above and beyond! That girl needs to blow up. And The Ascent needs to do well this February.
Ayayaya! Ayayaya!
