You clearly know nothing about music if you think a pop rock album sounds the same as a bubblegum pop one

It's sad though because there are legitimately people on ATRL that believe that Katy Perry doesn't evolve between albums and throughout her career and only makes music for the charts and under-10 year olds. It's ridiculous. I legitimately do not understand why some fans consider Katy Perry's music to be any less mature than the music that their own faves make. Not that making mature music is a prerequisite for making good music, anyway.

And this is how I know that the good sis ToxicKat is back... for a while & not for long
Katy may not be the greatest vocalist, dancer or performer out there. But no one cannot deny that she's satisfying and is here to make the people who care for her and enjoy her happy. The thing is, the music market is a huge one, she can't serve what everybody wants or what others' think things should be done.
You can go back to your fave and enjoy his/her material and celebrate in your own way their artistry and personality the same way Kats and other people do with Katy. That's just how it goes.

I agree. The article had some legit points. Especially the part stating she's here to stay. I remember the days when people thought she would be a one-hit wonder. She continues to prove doubters wrong every era and I don't see that stopping any time soon.

They simply don't, though. Your post and others like it simply have no merit because they're not fact. OOTB is a pop-rock record, and a lot of the tracks are very raw-sounding, something that's definitely not present on TD or PRISM. There's even growth between TD and PRISM. Katy has four albums, by the way, and nothing sounds like Katy Hudson on her other albums. She also has tons of unreleased tracks that have a range of sounds.

These reasons are so vague, though. If we go by this logic, Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, and Gaga are also the "Queen of Pop". Like, none of these are specific to Katy in any way, shape, or form, and it just goes to show how unspecific she is. And if anything, this is an insult to Madonna's legacy. Madonna's has worked for over 30 years to obtain the title of Queen of Pop. She has inspired every major female recording artist and most likely will continue to do so. It's so much more than something as trite as "willingness to evolve". Any artist is willing to evolve. It's actually evolving that counts, which Katy quite literally hasn't done as she continues to work with the same producers and song writers and continues to put out the same kind of music. Sorry, but going from sexy lesbian to sexy kitty cat isn't evolving, nor is going from singing about dicks to singing about her boobs.
Like I've always said, Katy has the potential to be great, but she will not live up to her potential as long as she's under the control of her label. She needs to break away or stand up to herself, otherwise she will remain the "kooky girl with catchy songs" and nothing else.

Willingness to evolve, huh? Her sound has barely even evolved over the course of five years. The real Queen of Pop evolved as a musician.

Katy does evolve. Her and Rihanna are the only ones willing to adapt to new music trends (hence why they stay successful).

You're conflating evolution with following trends.

If you think her three albums are interchangeable, you've obviously not thoroughly listened to them, and therefore you're an uninformed hater and your opinion isn't valid.

Let's look from the perspective of the GP. Katy has rock singles (Hot n Cold, Part of Me), electronic singles (ET, Dark Horse), ballads (TOTGA, Wide Awake), and everything in between. They see an artist with diversity. Meanwhile another artist releases the same dance-pop track every 6 months and her fans claim she evolves like no other artist in the industry.

None of them, except Beyonce, have the media on their side like Katy does. Gaga definitely doesn't, Nicki really didn't for awhile, and even Taylor has gotten significant backlash. It all comes back to how relatable and inspiring she is.
Calling her the Queen of Pop is not putting her above Madonna's entire legacy, it's just that currently, she is. Madonna has an amazing legacy and huge impact, but her time on top has ended. She still has the legacy, and she's fabulous for a throwback, but Katy's on top right now.
