Not here for this update, but Miguel is incredibly sexy and the things I would do with him are most un-festive.
Or maybe they are festive, depending on your perspective.

I need to listen to Wildheart and Depression Cherry. I think I would like those albums.
I already love Miguel, and I've liked what I'm heard from Beach House. So many albums to listen to!

Hmm maybe I need to give Miguel's music more of a chance, and not just focus on his god-like bod & looks.

Coffee is the only song from this update that I know and it's good! One of the better tracks from the album I'd say.

35. Lianne La Havas - What You Don't Do
No sweet nothing could ever be turned into something new
No grand gesture could ever be made to measure you
If you still haven't noticed, I'm such a flop. The list of reasons is quite long, so let's ignore it for now, but one of them is not listening to Lianne La Havas' new album Blood. Spotify, Last.fm, friends, critics and basically the whole globe recommended it, yet I totally slept on me. However, once when I was killing my time on the Internet, I did find this little single and simply fell in love. Now that I think about it, What You Don't Do isn't really special by any means, but wow, it got me obsessed, I could literally listen to it non-stop. And while I don't love it as much now, I just needed to mention it on my list, even if only for nostalgia for the good ol' (lmao) times. Cuteness overloaded, very sweet and adorable, I'll even add a little emote here
| 34. Madonna - Best Night
No sex tapes, no camera
Just you and me together
Y'all ageists like to hate this poor old lady lately. Well, I definitely won't say Rebel Heart lived up to its expectations but hey, after the two last releases which were disgusting and repulsive, it's a major step up and it was really nice to see her giving a **** about her music for the first time in nearly a decade. I'd also lie if I told the record brought no bops, Best Night for sure is one. We're all used to Madonna unnecessarily trying to be sexy with a poor effect, but honestly, this turns me on. For once, she's not trying to be provocative or controversial. It's kind of like she learned it's no art to take all the clothes off, it's art to be subtle, yet still manage to trigger the listener's senses, pun intended. And that's what Best Night does, it's sensual but classy and AMAZING. |
33. Lykke Li & Woodkid - Never Let You Down
Do you remember all the sounds, when I found you by the lake
And how the water seemed to call your name
Hm, I promised that there would be only one entry per artist, but I'm a filthy liar so here we've got a trick. Let's pretend Lykke Li is the main artist on Never Let You Down and Woodkid is only a feature (fans of his solo work will probably know what that means). But yeah, there was that movie Insurgent, which I haven't seen but allegedly was mediocre, nobody cares. What I did care about was the soundtrack and its lead single Never Let You Down. It was exactly what I expected - a bit dramatic but not overly dramatic, nostalgic but not overly nostalgic and finally emotional but not overly emotional composition. You might think it's really low-key but that actually works here. It could've been a huge, epic ballad but that would totally kill its atmosphere. Sometimes less is more, it's called the art of subtelty, amirite?
Also, isn't it amazing how it's worse than all of the songs on both I Never Learn and The Golden Age, yet still beautiful? |
Slay the quality, don't let them take selfies ever again. |
| 32. Faith No More - Separation Anxiety
It's like when your mind
Has a mind of it's own
Faith No More stans are literally the most patient people ever. Like, how can you still wait and be excited for your faves' new record after eighteen years after the last one? The album made my list so I'll talk about that later, let's focus on Separation Anxiety. It's what I've always loved most about the band, a bit darker, more mysterious in sound and also stunning in terms of performance. Mike Patton really does wonders in the song, I love how he interprets the track and, I don't know, play with his voice? At first he whispers in a really thrilling, exciting way but when he finally goes off and stars screaming... wow, just wow. It's just indescribable how he puts very little emotion in his singing and still manages to make such a long-lasting impression on the listener. |
31. Miley Cyrus - Evil Is But a Shadow
Evil is but a shadow
That always accompanies the good
Eh... um... yeah... Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. One of the most surprising and unusual releases of 2015. Don't ask me what I think of it. I don't think of it. I'm just as far from being its hater as from being its lover. However, I cannot deny Miley had quite a few interesting ideas. The one which hits me, personally, the hardest is possibly Evil Is But a Shadow. It's a track which puts me in a weird trance. It's a bit psychedelic but even some kind of classy in a very odd, Cyrus way... if a Miley track could ever be classy. It's dark and moody but doesn't make me feel angry or sad. I have rather the opposite feeling, maybe because of the lyrics. I feel perfectly calm after listening to it, it also gives me a bit of hope? It might seem low-key unfinished after all, but it speaks to me on so many levels. I'd never expect that.

I can kinda see your point but I don't know, it just felt real to me. The Tay drag tho nn.

You put albums I love, like Delirium and 25, but then listed your favorite tracks, which are some of my least favorites.

This is why we're always so different on music rates!

That's why music is amazing! I love how people can disagree on certain songs even if they listen to the same artist.

I actually really like Delirium, I don't know why everyone dragged it so bad. I guess it's just not everyone's taste.

I think it would be much less hated if it was more commercially successful. The first comments were rather positive, I think.

I didn't like it at first but I re-listened to some songs while making the Fire write-up and they were actually nice? Idk, there are some cute songs, like the ballad You Knew Me When, very Leona-ish, or Ladders which is a b0p, but as a whole it might a bit tiring.

I remember that, I was on vacation then. I came back from the beach and was surfing the net. And suddenly, while I was browsing atrl, I saw the 'registrations open' thread. I screamed and joined immediately. It was fun to watch meltdowns of people who were too late

I've overplayed the hell outta Holy Water and now it's nowhere near as great as it used to be for me, and S.E.X... has that cute the lesson in sexology part, I guess, but I definitely prefer Best Night
