Besides the Britney era, where was there blatant Janet-ism? BOMT and OIDIA are stylistically opposite of Janet. ITZ was a mixture of a lot of influences including Madonna, Electro, 007, Bollywood. Blackout was more Timbaland-influenced. Circus was bubble-gum pop with an dance tinge. FF was dance pop with an electro-tinge. And BJ was just awful

No shade, I love Janets music and think she was the better artist in the early 80s than pre-Like a Prayer Madonna, but still. Sales and charts matter only when they happen. After that the only thing that matters is how the music is remembered, plus artists legacy and impact. Janet is insanely influential, but she cant rival Madonnas impact on pop culture at all.
