I'm not asking what her Wikipedia says. Like I said, she was black, so it's easier to insert R&B in the genre. And they might take her vocals into consideration, but as songs themselves, what genre do you personally see songs like I Wanna Dance With Somebody Who Loves Me and So Emotional?
i meant i dont feel like looking through her songs to tell which ones are considerd r&b and which ones arent. especially conisdering she has like 10 albums.

I'm not asking you to look through anything though? I was just asking about those two songs lol. What do you see them as?
Nah, Whitney was probably the best example for a first black pop star. Donna & Diana too although Diana was more motown/soul-specific rather than all pure pop and Donna was more niche to the disco genre, though both genres were considered popular at the time.
That's not true tho, Pop is in fact a genre.
Some Rock bands are popular but you don't hear people calling them Pop artists.
That's because a lot of rock bands rebeled against top 40 music, which was made to appeal to a large audience. I think this change of attitude happened in the 70's when Disco became popular. Disco had a bad image and represented hedonism in an era full of problems and wars. Punk bands and Hark rock bands took over in the 80's and a lot of the music they made wasn't "radio friendly".
But The Beatles were pop and so were a lot of rockbands in the 50's and 60's. There's really no difference.

oh sorry. i wanna dance is a r&b/dance song i guess but with r&b vocals? idk. like i said i never said she didnt make dance music, im just saying after all was said and done she was just another r&b girl. anyway i dont know the other song.
roar and firework are the definition of cookie cutter POP songs!
Because they have a basic structure and melody. They are however dance songs. Though Katy's music has some elements of Rock, which you can hear in Roar.

IWDWS is a dance song. Whitney's voice is very soulful, but the song is dance.
It's called Dance-pop people. Every pop star has at least one Dance-pop song. Except Michael Jackson, which is kinda ironic.
Katy is a dance artist now? She has some dance/electronic leaning singles/songs but she still leans more towards the rock/pop side imo, especially in the context of modern dance music
Katy's music for the most part is uptempo (most pop music is these days) but I wouldn't say all/most of her music is dance. Only Hot & Cold, Firework, Part of Me, Walking on Air when it comes to singles really.
I can only think of a couple of Dance songs by her. Walking On Air, E.T., um... She's Bubblegum Pop, Electropop, Power Pop and Pop-Rock but definitely not Dance-Pop.

You're right, some of her songs have some rock influences. I mentioned that in my other post.
