There's no problem using metal pans in a combination microwave/convection oven so long as you use only the convection mode, not the microwave mode or the mixed microwave/convection mode. If you want to use the mixed/convection mode, stick to glass cookware like pyrex, which is microwave and heat safe. Using metal or microwaveable cookware in the mixed micro/convection mode will each cause problems, as metal will reflect the microwaves and microwavable cookware will often melt, smoke, or catch on fire due to the convection heat. The other posters here apparently have no clue what a combination microwave/convection oven is, so you can ignore their irrelevant warnings. I've owned combi ovens for more than 20 years, and I know how to use them safely. Just be aware that you might have to educate any household guests about how a combi micro/convection oven works, because they aren't well known and most people, like the other answerers here, don't know how they work and assume that the rules for microwaves always apply, but not in this case.
Combination microwave/convections ovens have both microwave cooking and heat cooking with electric heating elements and air circulation fans. They have modes where you can cook with microwaves, convection heat, or both.
