Aren't you the insider here? I hope your "source" is not reading this flop
I think you should give HM some time, I didn't like it too at first. It's a fantastic album and critics seem to agree for once
Wow and you met her at the signing?
Ben knows my opinion. With Lana, its not always everyone's cup of tea. I'm currently listening again (I'm on MTWBT) to see if I can get into it. Yes we met. It wasn't much of a big deal and I've kept all my meeting hush hush and what we talk about and stuff.

I think it's fine, I'm a fan of many established artists, and there are certain albums that I didn't like / listen to at their time of release (and still don't), but they won me back with their next albums.
This one might not be your cup of tea, or you have overplayed her music, etc. You might still like her next releases though, it's ok.

Now that I've had time to digest and listen to it as a full album, I really think this is her strongest, most cohesive body of work. The highs on BTD, Paradise, and Ultraviolence may have been slightly higher, but the lows were way lower.
This is mature, gorgeous, and every song is great. Most of all, you can tell that this isher vision and that she's the primary creative force behind the album from top to bottom. I'm so proud of her.
I relistened to the album and I definitely liked it more. 24 is still the worst song off the album and had no business being on it. For The Blackest Day, I'll grow to like it more when it becomes more relatable for me tbh. Swan Song is legit perfect. Freak is still overrated imo, but I have the chorus stuck on my head.
My faves are: Salvatore (the soft ice cream part is tragic tho), God Knows I Tried, Art Deco, Swan Song, and Religion.
I think that she won't debut at No.1 in the States is a good thing. Sales are ok, but her lack of interest in getting herself out there, not just to the most eager fans, might push her and we could all benefit from some extra interviews, a live performace or two in the US, more videos, etc.
I doubt she cares as long as the numbers are okay if she is at No.1 or No.2.
