I took creative writing and even though it wasn't my favourite class I felt like I learned a lot about myself. They really encourage you to write about what you feel descriptively and I still like to read some of the poems that I did back then (they're a little cringey but still)

yeah like, i didn't think i'd like the poetry unit but i took it in my junior year of high school, which was a really bad year for me, and i got to express a lot of the bad stuff i was feeling and it actually felt really good. i liked that i at least got something tangible out of the emotions. i wasn't as good of a writer back then but it helped me improve and the class activities were actually fun.
and i improved my short story writing a lot too, which is the type of writing i like doing the most, so i'm glad about that. that also gave me my first workshop. oh boy, writing workshops are terrifying. i took an entire workshop class last semester and i'm still scared of them even with that experience. lmao
