I like Born This Way but I have a few problems with it:
1) It's unnecessarily noisy. The industrial, machine-like ruckus throughout the song adds nothing to it.

2) It's wordy and heavy on the lyrics. I'm all for being upfront and forward about supporting the LGBTQ community and all races and self-expression in general, but that bridge is a mouthful--I don't think I've ever seen Gaga semi-rap through the whole bridge in totality...there are just too many words and not enough melody. The same can sort of be said about the chorus ("I'm beautiful in my way, 'cause God makes no mistakes...") which isn't extremely wordy but for a melody that isn't insanely catchy there are just too many words there to make it stick. The biggest hook of the song is probably the "ooh there ain't no other way, baby I was born this way" line...which is catchy but isn't as effective a hook as some parts in her biggest hits.

3. It had so much potential. I'm not saying the song is horrible (I still like it and it's in my top 20 or so Gaga songs), but with all the hype and her being at the peak of her popularity I really wanted her to slay with this song and not have it be tainted by controversies and lukewarm reviews. I think the last 30 seconds of the song sound best, and something with a more stripped down, almost church gospel sound would have been amazing for this song
