A Grammy nom is a combination between critical acclaim and commercial success, if an album lacks one of them, the other measure has to be big enough to make up for it.

Emotion had critical acclaim, but not as much as 1989, for example. And had very little relevance commercially speaking, I would've nominated it to pop vocal album instead of Kelly though, but I understand why it didn't got nominated.

Why would he be nominated? Trilogy is platinum, and Kiss Land was moderately successful. Beauty Behind the Madness is just his mainstream breakthrough. It's not like his previous work is like a Katy Hudson type album.

I don't like Taylor much tbh but honestly I wouldn't mind if Blank Space wins ROTY or Pop Solo Performance, it is in fact one of my Top3 choices for ROTY (out of the noms). SOTY, that's different story. The only song that should win this is Girl Crush.
