By 1990, Kylie had already presented signs that she was growing up. There was the short pants of Wouldn't Change a Thing, the exposed midriff of Never Too Late, and the frankly mature role in The Delinquents. Kylie shocked the world in January of that year by showing up to the London premiere in a short dress, short cropped blonde wig, and with INXS frontman Michael Hutchence on her arm.
By March, it was all over. Kylie had been sent Better the Devil You Know by SAW a few months earlier, and hated the demo - she wanted something harder, faster, edgier. She got it, and in Australia, away from the prying eyes of her label, got the video to match. Gone were the days of curly hair and chaste movements, Kylie was now dancing by the fire with long straight hair and little black dresses, curled up in the loving arms of her black video boyfriend. Fans, needless to say, were outraged. When it was released in April 1990, it became the first Kylie lead single to not go number one in the UK or Australia. Little matter, as it completely shifted her career, became a standard and THE song that signifies her as a gay icon.
OH MY GOD.. I never would have thought this would be at #3
Such a great song.. soooo beautiful... OMG... Love At First Sight HAS TO WIN... Confide In Me is good, but it's not classic kylie.. I really want a classic Kylie to song.. And why not the best one EVER... Love At First Sight is just amazing..
So sad to see it come like this.. it's just so hard!

That's not entirely true.
Kylie has four signature songs, songs that have irrevocably changed and shifted her career: I Should Be So Lucky, Better the Devil You Know, Confide in Me and Can't Get You Out of My Head.
What is surprising is that Confide is the highest ranked one. I did not expect that!!

If Kool Aid King had given it a ten, it would have won.
What I really love about BTDYK is I think it's the high point of SAW's songwriting - the music is so brash, intense, powerful, fully independent.
The lyric is heartbreaking - especially sung by a 22 year old.
Love at First Sight is classic Kylie and Confide In Me isn't? YourFaveFan, I'M WATCHING YOU
I hope LAFS wins... Just to kind of have balanced out what you did to The Harold Song
But yes, Confide In Me is great, but Kylie is and always will be who I go to for chipper and upbeat songs about love... Confide In Me is great.. I like it a lot more now that I noticed it (I heard all kylie albums this year), but it's just not what I would know her for. Just my opinion
