The Rat. Resourceful, versatile, adaptable, one of the most underappreciated of Zodiac signs. The year of the rat only occurs once every twelve years; 2008, 1996, and 1984 were the last years of the rat in recent memory.
As an animal, the rat is known to build intricate nests in the most unexpected places out of whatever nearby material they can find. This versatility allows it to remain widespread and adaptable even in times that are not ideal. Occasionally, the rat nests grow in size over the years, as generations of rats add to the nests, slowly building on top of the established base, layers form, preserving and trapping specific moments in time in these layers.
As the resourceful Zodiac rats build their nests during the years they are active, scrounging for whatever they can grab from the culture around them during their year of activity, they trap moments that were happening in the culture around them, adding them to their nests, preserving them and capturing a specific moment in time.
The songs born and released into the world during the year of the rat also take on some of the characteristics of the rat. The songs are bound by their common imagination, intelligence, and make some sharp observations. A careful look at the rats nest reveals what the rat influenced culture was like around each song. Concerns about love, big hair, and jean jackets represent the independent 1984 of Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It?; tire swings, trees, and firewood for a warm campfire capture the charming Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey; and guns, cash registers, and paper planes help to capture the entrepreneurial spirit and musically ambitious nature of M.I.A.’s 2008 hit Paper Planes.
As the Zodiac rat awakens and begins his cycle, the culture around him takes on his influence, and he adds that to his growing nest saving them, building off them in the future.
So I made a new (minimalist) signature, just because the K-Pop stan swap thing has been over for a while. If inspiration ever strikes me (or a song I REALLY enjoy comes out that I can quote), I'll make a better sig, but this one suffices. I wanted to keep the dull, kinda pastel-ish gradient thing going with my sig, but I refuse to put a bunch of artists in my sig so I don't really have anything to put there.
And lol I could've been judging your entries instead, but I wanted to wait and see if Witch would post a comeback entry. It'd also be nice to judge your entries when I'm not tired.
(even though they're legit reasons, my biggest one was just a matter of cba)
Because I can't do it now anyway my concept for the time trilogy would have been how a certain genre of music has developed and evolved in Japan from the seventies until now. I had the song ideas and everything.
XL's graphics are working again for me. I guess the issue with Photobucket has been resolved!
I'm really curious how this round will work out. I don't know if I see obvious front-runners for the Zodiac one, but I do see 2 really nice standouts for the comeback. 👀 👀 👀 👀 👀
