5. Sittin' Up In My Room
From Waiting To Exhale Soundtrack
Average: 9.01
IMO, Perfect placing. Maybe #4, but this is excellent.
Hands down, The cutest song in her discography. So simple. So pretty. So Smooth. The song became a huge hit. Released as the 3rd single (I think?) from the soundtrack. The song was actually a HUGE hit. It was blocked from being Brandy's first #1 by none other than legendary Siren Mariah Carey & her ex-boyfriend Wanya Morris' "One Sweet Day." That song actually blocked 2 songs from the #1 position and also replaced Shoop Shoop from spending more weeks @ #1. That payola
The song, written by Babyface, is about a girl thinking about her lover. I'm not sure why it was on Waiting to Exhale when those were all grown ass women, but I'm sure Whitney had a say in that. The song ended up becoming an R&B staple and one that's still performed by Brandy as an adult. The vocal is on another level, as all of Brandy's music tbh. It's just a HAPPY song. If you're down, this song can definitely cheer you up, like it cheers me up.
supa & I agree when he said "The rare moment when Brandy got to be the giddy teenager. That shimmering chorus—which lets her feelings, normally bottled up in R&B cool, fly free—is divine."
Fun fact: of all of Babyface's legendary hits, BET chose Brandy to perform Sittin Up In My Room (complete with tight choreo) at the Soul Train Awards to honor him. (excuse the quality)
Look at that acclaim from ATRL! No song has below a 5 from now on
I gave Afrodisiac a 10 and all but it's not really top 5 of her career.
But it's more deserving than I Wanna Listen To Best Friend or What About Two Eleven?.
I agree with this statement. Rooting for it or Full Moon to win.
