I love Justin's music and all, but you people need to stop bowing to the update. It really isn't that unusual these days. It would have been impossible to reach this huge number like 2 years ago. It's all because of radio deals which are so popular these days. Someone will beat it very soon etc etc.
In fact, a radio deal still shows how big of a star someone is. Like, radios probably would not shove the single of an unknown down the throats of their audience. (which would make it SO easy to establish an artist!)
Every artist who has had a deal was huge and that is what I as a stan would take as a compliment - that radio executives consider my fave big and popular enough to play his/her new song that much).
(Obviously the numbers themself are nothing to boast about)

No the record labels pay for them. They wouldn't want to waste the money for a radio deal on an unknown artist that might not smash. They'll waste it on an established artist.

Radio spins are purchased by the labels anyway, whether they're for new releases (Suit & Tie) or forcing impressions on songs nobody really likes.
So is britney the only artist that didn't get a radio deal and had those huge updates?
Yep.
So imagine how her next single will do with one.

And yes, Justin's update is still very impressive despite the deal. None of the other radio deals saw such a huge pop update on the first day, not even BTW.

Remember that Mediabase numbers have increased as **** this past year!

I know, but I think a label could give radios a massive amount of money and they still would not give a deal to an unknowns song. You just need to be big enough to be able to be shoved down people throats.
