It's having a really good run so far!! I don't really keep up with how much movies gross or how fast, but $500 million within a month must be good for longevity to keep it in theatres.

In summer movies tend to do most of their money in their first couple weeks, so X-Men is expected to go $700K tops, which is a great thing considering that the franchise's previous peak was less than $500K

500 millions in 10 days. Really good, but it won't hit 1 billions for sure.
Unless the movie has incredible legs like Avatar or Frozen, it has to earned ~350- 400 millions worldwide openning to reach 1 billion. The first two weeks gross is usually about 70% of total gross.
In example, Harry Potter 7.2's worldwide openning/total gross is 483/1341 millions. Transformers 3 382/1123, Iron Man 3 372/1210. Xmen is 262/523 at the moment

That's not set in stone... X-Men is expected to top $400M internationally by Sunday but I think domestically this weekend's take won't even let it pass Spider-Man 2 so it'll be short of $600M again. Hopefully it can push as close to 600 as possible, then it has a good chance to cross $700M by the end of its run if things don't just drop off.

I'd say over $650M is guaranteed if it tops $400M internationally this week and domestic tops $220M in the long run. $700M seems like a stretch with those numbers which is such a shame for a movie this great.
