Burlesque wasn't a box office hit by any means, but it certainly wasn't a flop either like some people *cough*Nicole*cough* want to suggest.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island remained on top of the international chart with $27.5 million on 8,249 screens in 43 markets for a total of $130.0 million internationally. By comparison, its predecessor made $140 million in total. This week, The Mysterious Island opened in second place in France with $2.71 million on 436 screens, while it managed first place in Spain with $2.10 million on 468. The film is almost at $200 million worldwide, and with several major markets left to go, it should have no trouble getting to $250 million and maybe even $300 million.

The same can't be said for "Wanderlust," which had the second-lowest opening ever for a movie produced by comedy guru Apatow, ahead of the 2007 music parody "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story." The film about an uptight Manhattan couple who move to a commune got a CinemaScore of B-minus. It was financed by Universal Pictures and a fund previously managed by Relativity for around $35 million.

Oh & FYI that 'Journey 2' bit was from last week. Here's where it stands now:

After holding the top spot for consecutive weekends, international hit Journey 2: The Mysterious Island had to settle for second with $21.1 million. Its top territory was once again China, where it added $5.8 million for a total of $48 million. It now ranks third all-time there among Warner Bros. releases. The movie's only major opening this weekend came in Italy ($2.3 million), and it's slated to expand in to Germany on Thursday. The movie has already grossed $161.8 million on the foreign circuit, which tops the first Journey's $140.3 million final tally.

Truthfully no actor/actress can carry a movie on her/his name alone (even Johnny Depp the highest paid actor had a flop recently). It helps if someone famous is in it but if it promo's handled poorly or the public isn't here for it then it won't be successful. I think the problem with this movie was poor promo and it was Rated R but mostly would appeal to teenagers. Queen Aniston remains flawless and still keeps getting them offers.

Sis I have just checked my DVD's and she has first billing on The Break Up and Bounty Hunter. Her name still helped the movies and she had an equal role in the other two.
