I watched a documentary where only like five out of hundreds in a plane crashed survived,
and according to that, one of the women survived because she bent down to tie her shoes just as the plane crashed, effectively putting her in brace position.
So it saved her life.

Maybe as they were closing in on the ground, it became kind of a surreal experience for her, like an out of body experience, and she was suddenly super calm and aware of everything, looked down at herself and thought "Oh, my shoes aren't tied, better fix that."
