Pop diva Britney Spears collects her 10th top five Billboard 200 album, as her latest studio effort, Glory, enters at No. 3 (111,000 units; 88,000 in traditional album sales). Spears’ last studio set, 2013’s Britney Jean, debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 107,000 sold. The new album was led by the single “Make Me,” featuring G-Eazy, which has so far peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 20 on the Pop Songs airplay chart.

Why is there a discrepancy of 4k b/w BB and HDD?

I expected a bit more in both fields (pure sales/SPS) but it's good, I guess.

She'll never do better unless she fires her team. It's a step-up from BJ and Barbra didn't actually sell her total, but FGL is in decline and shouldn't be dragging her like that. Sure H.O.L.Y. is the biggest country song of the year, but it's pretty clear this will be their final big album (they went from 2.2M albums and 15M singles sold to 800k albums and 6M singles sold) and they're not much of a force. That's the real disappointment, commercially, in my books.
Plus, she'd probably be pushed more performance-wise and get to explore a lot more. I swear to God if Randee or Charm do anything else this era, I'm going to lose it.

Watch Britney never do Promo Again during debut week The USA does not deserve it! tbh
At least Glory is one of the best albums of the year! Maybe it could have Longetivity! maybe at this point im not expecting anything from the US tbh!

The fact that she can still debut in the Top 5 almost 20 years into her career is amazing. Don't be too disappointed in the sales, guys.

HDD gets their estimates from a number of retailers, so there's always a small margin of error. Whilst Nielsen gets exact data from transactions nationwide.
I'm okay with 88k/111k. It could've been a lot worse given she's been deteriorating rapidly since the first date of Femme Fatale Tour.
Also it's a plus critically, even though it wasn't gonna be difficult to turn around from BJ. They should try to make it an era regardless so there's some momentum going into B10.

We're just now getting restocks (my FYE went from two shelves to three and Babs and FGL got moved since they weren't selling). It's weird, but I guess FGL is probably moving a lot harder down south. They're perfect truck stop music.
What matters the most is a hit. Team Britney should've done a DJ feature prior to the era and not ruined MM with that video. The song was selling well, doing well on radio, getting rave reviews and doing alright in streaming but the video killed it and kept it from ever getting over 1M streams a day. It might have helped the era to just not release the video
If they **** up video #2, I can't see the era continuing.

Ugh Glory is so good - I swear I woke up and listen to "Make Me" this morning and it sounded fresher than ever! Ugh and "Do You Wanna Come Over?" the BEAT DROP after the opening "uh huh" literally has me SCALPEDT.
And the bridge in "Slumber Party" oh my godney!

Can we also just remember she outsold Fifth Harmony who had a HUGE lead single and are very current. I think she's done great and it'll definitely be more stable than BJ.

Yes I agree Make Me exist during debut week then dissapeard until the Carpool Karaoke / VMAS, radio completly igonore the song! Fans are mad about the video!
Also MM was ignored outside the US! it finally get attention after the VMAS but simply the Army are watting for single 2 (It would not happen this month) she is at Vegas & doing the festivals so she coudl film the video by the end of the month & released until october
However I dont think we should say that Make Me video was the one that ruin Glory sales!

DYWCM?, MOTM and Change Your Mind should be the next singles inthatorder-mommadee.mp3
I really like Love Me Down but I think it's better off as an album track.

Yes it outsold a lot of girls in the last year like Gwen, SIa, Selena, Demi, Meghan, Fifth Harmony & many more. But I think that she is Britney Spears I was expecting at least 100k in pure sales & even more when the VMAS & Carpool Karaoke are pretty good promo

This is why I'm glad fans don''t pick singles. It's all a mess, almost Crimal sized mess.

I'm a bit disappointed with the pure sales, not even 90K , oh well, at least she outsold Selena, Demi, 5H, Meghan, Sia, Gwen, etc, and they had bigger hits.

It is good promo...for the song. And she usually experiences a drop in first week numbers from album to album since then as well, with the exception of Circus (which was an anomaly). None of this is surprising and it fits into the general trajectory of her sales, imo. And yes she is Britney Spears, but her numbers don't quite match her celebrity status and that's okay.
All that matters now is that they release a second single with a really great video. It doesn't even need to be a huge hit to keep the album afloat.
