Yes, according to Spotify Payola Chart it lost 40% of total followers (43% based on followers and position on playlist).

only logical explanation. the by far most common way to listen to hits on spotify is via playlists, not so much on actual demand. get dropped from the biggest playlists, you drop ALOT in streams

tbh i almost only listen to my own playlists, but i know the vast majority just use pre-made playlists, the biggest difference when it comes to this is i would say rock/metal (which i mostly listen to).
so yeah, streaming services are more like radio tbh, altho the opportunity to 100% on demand is there.

I listen exclusively to my own playlists, but most casual listeners don't care that much about it. Some may even like listening to Spotify's playlists because they can discover new music as if they were listening to radio.
