OK so listen guys, we're in another sales slump period of the era. The current single is not selling the album and is taking some time to die down on radio. Kelly's also not making many appearances, so the era is losing a bit of exposure. So don't be surprised if sales take a turn for the worse this week. I just don't want them to fall below 10,000 but I actually think the chances of that are actually pretty high.
The reason I say not to worry is because right now A LOT of things are building up to work in Kelly's favour over the next month, so I foresee that sales will spike again and hold steady for a while, especially if the third single is a moderate hit and RCA push a fourth single just as hard (and maybe a fifth
)
1) Dark Side will be released
. We're a little more sure that the video will be a success, and we know that Kelly will at least be doing Idol to promote it in the states. They're timing its release right, imo, waiting for Stronger to fall on radio so that DS gets all the spotlight. Hopefully it also revives her international album sales as well, cause that's been a little weak recently.
2) Mr. Know It All (Country Version) is actually doing really well on radio so far
. It's already top 40 and I don't think we've even had the adds date yet. I see it doing well and exposing Kelly to a whole new market. Even if it doesn't pull in massive country sales, it's keeping Kelly in the Country limelight, so maybe another Country single can be released later (Sun Will Rise, anyone?). It's also a good backup IF Dark Side underperforms (there's always that chance).
3) All the concert promo coming up. We've got a couple of dates in the UK for high profile events and that Brazil pop music festival. Not to mention touring with the Fray.
4) DUETS!
I really think it'll help for Kelly to be on TV every week, singing and showing off her great personality. People who might have heard her on the radio and liked her can then take a second look at her and be reminded to buy her music. Especially if Kelly pulls off some amazing performances with her partner, or somehow performs something from her new album!
So don't worry about the next couple of weeks in terms of sales, guys. Things are building up in a really good way for Kelly right now. We're just in that transition period between singles, and because WDKY was so big, it's taking a little bit of time to move on. But because of all the reasons I listed above, I definitely DO NOT see the rest of this era diminishing.
