This has been causing a lot of controversy lately:

"In the United States, 'Applause' is set to sell between 200,000 and 250,000 copies this week. But without the multiple purchases, sales would probably be between 170,000 and 200,000. I've never seen any artist so desperate to inflate their numbers," the rep tells us.

I don't necessarily believe the quoted article (they let their hatred for Gaga blind their reporting), but it sparks the question: Does iTunes put limits on purchases? We know Soundscan only allows one album to be bought per receipt, but are digital sales the same way? Traditionally, fans will "gift" singles when they first come out to increase artist exposure and raise sales. Does this actually affect sales, or are we better suited just sharing Youtube links?
Also, how do you pick which artists to pit against each other in sales updates? They're always hysterical and spark a lot of controversy. Is there a way we could let Billboard know we want to see more of this; like maybe Britney vs. Beyoncé, or something like that? Do you guys have an email where you take requests?
