- David Cook became American Idol Season 7 Winner.
- David Cook's self-titled debut album debuted at the #03 on the Billboard 200 chart, with sales of 280,000 copies in the United States. The album also broke digital sales records for a debut artist, selling 59,000 electronic copies.
- Light On, the first single was released to U.S. radio on September 30, 2008. The song sold 109,000 digital downloads in its first week of availability, leading to a #17 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and #08 on the Hot Digital Songs chart.
- David Cook also did a whole remake for Always Be My Baby which he sang when her was still in American Idol Season 7. |
14. David Cook
American Idol winner David Cook definitely had a good 2008 and it is all thanks to the show. First, he became known with his piece for Always Be My Baby on a special Mariah Carey tribute episode, then he won the title for the 7th Season. David Cook then released the radio friendly Time Of My Life. By the end of the year, he released his self titled album which had hits like his first single Light On. Let's hope that this American Idol will be here to stay and give us more of his music next year.

- The Pussycat Dolls released their 2nd album Doll Domination on September 23rd, 2008. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, with 79,000 copies sold in its first week. In the United Kingdom the album has sold 70,000 copies, being certified as Silver.
- The first single When I Grow Up was released on 27 May, 2008 to iTunes. It was a hit, peaking at #09 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, #02 in Australia's Singles Chart, and #03 in the UK Singles Chart and #03 in the Canadian Hot 100. The music video won the Dolls a Video Music Award for Best Dancing in a Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. |
13. The Pussycat Dolls
The Pussycat Dolls had a good comeback and 2008. They released their Doll Domination which spanned the hits When I Grow Up and I Hate This Part. The dolls comeback was well received, they earned another VMA awards for this Best Dance Video for When I Grow Up. Doll Domination may not be did well in the succeeding weeks after its release, but you have to admit that The Pussycat Dolls is the best girl group as of the moment.

- Taylor Swift released her second album Fearless It debuted at #01 on the U.S. Billboard 200, U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums, Canadian Albums Chart, and Canadian Top Country Albums, and has been certified two-time platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
- According to Billboard, Fearless is the third best-selling album of 2008 with 2.11 million copies sold, behind only Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III and Coldplay's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.
- Love Story went on to #05 which became her biggest hit marking her first top 5 in the US. |
12. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift definitely had an amazing 2008. She first released the singles from her previous album; Teardrops On My Guitar, Our Song and Picture To Burn. After that, she released her second album Fearless which absolutely her successful album so far. Fearless stayed at the top spot for a couple of weeks earning Taylor's album as the 3rd best-selling album of 2008. With her success, it is no wonder that we will see Taylor Swift more next year.
