Beyoncé is used to rapping, or rather, rap-singing, but she's doing some new things on this remix. The way she plays with the melody and changes up her flow is nothing short of impressive, especially for a singer. I can't see any other female singer doing what she does here. She also spits the most memorable lines of the song, referencing the elevator incident.
She brags about her success and about her looks but she ends her part by claiming that she wants "EVERYONE to feel like this". Ending the debate about whether this as empowering as the original. It's clearly meant to inspire the listener to feel good about themselves while they're singing along.
The structure of ther song is unusual in pop. I think Beyoncé is past simple pop structures (which is very evident on her latest album) and has realized that music should be more liberating. There's the familiar hook everyone can sing along too right after the bridge, but then comes an interlude. A sample from the song SpottieOttieDopaliscious by Outkast. Fitting considering it's meaning.
Then Queen Bey summons "Onika".
Nicki Minaj brought her A game. One of her best verses, second only to the Monster verse. The MJ line is yet another line on this remix that people won't soon forget. She starts off slow and menacing, while Bey jumps in and delivers an aggressive line inspired by Monster. Then Onika really takes off and shows what a rapper truly sounds like. No weird accents spotted, no gimmicks, no faking. She brags about her status as a female rapper in the industry, but unlike a lot of rappers, she can actually back it up. She has become a sort of icon in hip hop.
It's great to hear two female artists, two black female artists, at the top of their game do a rap-duet, so to speak and actually try and inspire their listeners. There's no denying this song still carries the same feminist message, but when you bring two talented and accomplished ladies on the same track and ask them to rap, don't expect them to do any less than their male peers.
The Lowdown: Awkward track with disorganized production is far from flawless.
I never heard the original ***Flawless, so my opinion of its remix might be a little skewed. Nevertheless, I felt compelled to review such an interesting collaboration. Beyonce starts the song off with some rap-singing, which is pretty decent. However, my attention was more on the production and beat, which sounded like a complete mishmash of different effects and instruments and was a bit overwhelming. During some parts of the first verse, you can clearly hear autotune which was a bit annoying. The chorus is fairly unoriginal and fairly unmemorable, consisting of Beyonce describing her flawless things. The seconds verse a bit awkward as the instrumental changes several times. Nicki then comes in with her verse. At the beginning the beat seems as if it is too basic for a Nicki verse. But then Nicki purposely slows down her rapping, making her verse slightly more bearable. Her lyricism is again smart and clever, but her verse drags on for way too long. The last 15-30 seconds of her verse, where both her and the beat sped up, were much more appealing to me and the whole verse should have been like that. This song doesn't flow as much as it should. Bey's 1st and 2nd verses don't really go together, and the different parts of Nicki's rap don't go together. Although the star power might suggest something extraordinary, a mediocre and disorganized track is all we got. This is a song where nothing really clicks.

The final score for Nicki Minaj - "Anaconda" will be tabulated and posted tomorrow.
7/10
When Nicki Minaj dropped "Pills N Potions" earlier this year I fell in love and it became one of my favorite singles of hers and I couldn't wait to see what direction The PinkPrint would take. When she released the single cover on Instagram, I was very excited and when the LQ leak hit the Internet, I can't say I was pleased. But then when the HQ hit my ears I liked it more. Having said this, I do not like "Anaconda" as much as "Pills N Potions". I fell the song isn't anything spectacular as a whole. The best section is the pre-chorus in which Nicki raps "And he telling me it's real, that he love my sex appeal/Say he don't like em boney, he want something he can grab/So I pulled up in the Jag, and I hit em with the jab like..." which I think are brilliant lyrics. I wish the rest of the song would have followed great lyrics like this. On multiple listens, the chorus gets annoying and unfunny. However, the beat at the end with the outro is pretty sick. I am surprised how much this song has appealed to the general public seeing it peaked at number 1 on iTunes.
Beyoncé ft. Nicki Minaj - "***Flawless" remix
10/10
When I hit play for the first time on flawless.beyonce.com chills went down my spine. This song is exactly what I expected from these two ladies- no more, no less. Beyoncé's new lines along with the elevator reference and her laugh make it a perfect song, But, wait, then Nicki comes in and steals the spotlight until the end. Although I am not the biggest fan of the Michael Jackson line, she cranks up the song a whole new level making it collaboration of the year. I can not wait to see this song performed live, the video and boy oh boy, I'm obsessed with this.
Just when you thought Beyoncé couldn't get any better it happened... and Nicki spit it right: "This every hood ***** dream, fantasizing about Nicki and B".
Beyoncé is known for bringing the best out of anyone she works with, and no different this time, she said to Nicki : "Don't hold back" and that's what she did, brought her best to make ***Flawless more ***Flawless than ever.
The highlight of the remix is the mention of the elevator incident, but we can not forget Nicki's bars, she was spitting like her life depended of it and as she said: “When you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it”. No deny here, that's why she is the Queen.
This is my ****.
When it leaked in LQ i really enjoyed it, but as i kept listening to it the more i started to dislike it
But on August 4th that all changed. From the Baby Got Back sample, to Nicki's catchy verses, the pre-chorus, & my favorite part "dundundundundundun" part, i'm in love with with this song.
The clubs & radio will eat this song up.
Overall i give this song a 10/10
Ugh. I don't even know where to begin.
I'm still slayed by this song to this day. My #1 dream collab since 2009 has finally happened, & it couldn't have happened at a better time. Bey ATE her verse, she ATE the bridge, & when she said "Onika" it sounded like she was summoning a monster to attack. That's exactly what Onika did. She attacked, ATE her verse, & closed the song. The chills. In my opinion, this is definitely the collab of the year. 10/10
