Chris Brown was SO BIG (like Usher of Urban) in 2005-2008 in the Urban community. I always thought he was just relevant in the Urban community, I never knew he was mainstream then until I saw his stats.
I remember my auntie was stanning from the SECOND "Run It" came out, and she still stans. I remember hearing "Run It" on the radio EVERYDAY coming home from school.
WBT, Shake It Off, The Sweet Escape, and Run It are the only songs I remember hearing EVERYDAY in 2005.
Oh God, I had such a seething HATRED for the Sweet Escape because, ironically, the last thing I could do was escape it.
Don't forget Chris copying Ushers Caught Up in Fine China, with the vintage wear, suspenders, ganster fight scene, saving the girl etc.
