Free love white teenage liberals from the 60s and 70s are now staunchly Republican. Perhaps it's a myth, you're right, but on the other hand I don't see how we assume that these people won't change ideologically either.
Receipts?
Majority of youth in the 60s and 70s weren't hippies. Overwhelming majority of the hippies didn't vote for Reagan or Bush (my guess) it was their counterparts that were not a part of the movement. Nixon's so-called "silent majority".
BoB's are stupid!!! I love Bernie and I do not like Hillary at all. I still would want Bernie to be the Democratic nominee, but it's just not going to happen! Give up! Move on! Please unite under Hillary! She's the most qualified person out of the ones left to be president. Stop protesting her and give her your support, then protest her while she's in the White House to pressure her to push policies that you prefer.
I just cannot understand why you would support Bernie (far left) and then support Donald Trump (right). Why were you supporting Bernie in the first place? "Anti-establishment"? And now that's why you want Donald Trump? Is your "anti-establishment" worth tearing apart the lives of 11.4 million immigrants in this country? Is it worth tearing apart NATO relations for the US? Is it? Is it worth allowing a fear-mongering orangutan to run this country?
I am not pleased with Hillary, her scandals, or her past. But I fear Donald Trump. I fear for my friends and family, many of which are not citizens. I respect those who choose to vote for a third party candidate, but recognize that your vote won't do anything to prevent a Trump presidency, and the implications of what that means for so many in the US and even those overseas. Four years of Hillary is a small price to pay for avoiding Donald Trump.
I fully support open conversation with rational Bernie supporters like Mike; I won't, however, tolerate vague, pseudo-intellectual "THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED THEY'RE OUT TO GET US" musings from people who likely wouldn't have voted even if Bernie HAD won the nomination.
Perception of corruption is as dangerous to us winning as actual corruption. We have to prove to them that is not. Calling them idiots isn't going to convince them of anything.
& they wonder why non Hillary supporters steer clear of this thread
Well when they come with hyperbolic unfounded claims that they likely found on Tumblr or pro-Bernie Twitter accounts they should expect to be clocked. Sorry! This is a facts only thread

You can't compare 60's liberals to today's liberals. There are similarities but it's not the same. It was the Vietnam war, the rejection of 50's values, etc that lead to that movement.
Also the country in general went republican during pretty much the 70's and 80's (aside from Carter). It was just a different time.
Seriously - keep your philosophical musings to yourself. Those of us who support Hillary (either ardently or begrudgingly) recognize that our country will collapse with Orange Hitler in the White House. We recognize that the racial injustice against POC will get WORSE with Orange Hitler in power. We recognize that women will lose their right to choose with Orange Hitler in power. We recognize that all forward momentum with the LGBT movement will stall with Orange Hitler in power.
So, for real - just shut up. We give a **** about our country and protecting those of us who are subjugated by the majority - you don't.
None of this will happen. It's just fear-mongering.
Why are there less Bernie supporters in the arena, yet they are SO much louder than Hillary's? The DNC should've done a better job of controlling everything...

Isn't that the whole primary in a nutshell? Bernie people, particularly the brats, are just more rabid.
I'll switch to CNN and MSNBC for post-conference talks, but pure convention coverage, C-SPAN is the way to go. No commentary, just the convention itself

Hmm, good point. Still taking a wait and see approach though.

If you want to switch to watching it on laptop or phone:
Systemic racial injustice going unchecked or being given ammunition is as bad as direct legislative injustice. Functional loss of reproductive health centers is loss of the right to choose. Repealing of marriage rights and the enacting of "freedom of religion" laws and the introduction of bathroom regulations is stalling of the LGBT rights movement.
