There is little research that proves people get more conservative as they get older. That's been a long myth. Reagan won the youth vote, yet that same generation voted for Bill Clinton 8-16 years later. It's more that fiscally conservative people don't vote at all when they're young because they aren't paying taxes. Thus that's screws the whole young cohort more liberally because they are the ones turning out to the polls.
Young liberals have more of a reasons to vote than young conservatives. College debt, getting a job out of college, and social issues are all things that are directly impact. Young people also realize they are going to have to deal with the burden of long term problems such as climate change.
