Adrien Brody's Beyoncé sadness
Monday, 8 December 2008
Adrien Brody was sad when Beyoncé sang to him.
The actor stars alongside the singer in 'Cadillac Records' and says he enjoyed working with her so much, he was overwhelmed when they did their final scenes together.
He said: "Beyoncé was remarkable and very emotionally open. We went through some tough stuff. There's one scene where she sings 'At Last' directly to me. It was a strange moment that made me sad because it was her last day of filming.
"I kept thinking, 'When will I ever have Beyoncé sing to me like this again?' "
In the movie, Beyoncé stars as legendary troubled singer Etta James, while Adrien plays record boss Leonard Chess

You saw how he hammered that kiss onto Halle Berry at the 2003 Oscars, so you know Adrien Brody dove into his work when it came to making out with Beyonce in "Cadillac Records."
Writer/director Darnell Martin admitted at Monday's premiere that she took some "dramatic license" in devising a scene where record boss Leonard Chess (Brody) locks lips and rolls around on the carpet with heroin-fogged singer Etta James (Beyonce).
But Brody wasn't troubled by the historical inaccuracy.
"Let's just say it wasn't a deal breaker," the grinning actor told us. "When I met Etta [the real one], she told me, 'Leonard and I did not do those things!' So, yes, it was somewhat embellished. But what's wonderful is the truth Beyonce brings to that moment. That justified it."
Plus, said Brody, whose girlfriend, Elsa Pataky, was out of earshot, "It is fun, obviously, to kiss Beyonce. I insisted on a lot of takes."
Beyonce, who came to the premiere with husband Jay-Z, allowed that she didn't find the intimacy repellent.
"It wasn't so bad," she said with a faraway smile. "I remember when he kissed Halle Berry. He's not shy! Not at all."
Cedric the Entertainer, who plays bluesman Willie Dixon, admitted his only problem with the film was that "they wrote me out of a scene with Beyonce."
Eamonn Walker, who heaped on weight and dropped his British accent to become Howlin' Wolf, said he identified with the growling singer's "madness, his obsessiveness and his love of women."
Jeffrey Wright, who masterfully inhabits Muddy Waters, admitted he couldn't match the Hoochie Coochie Man's guitar-pickin' or alcohol intake: "How am I going to be a hard-drinking man with a 7-year-old and a 3-year-old — though they may drive me to drink?"
Despite Beyonce donating her salary to the Phoenix House rehab program, premiere guests did do a little boozin' at the after-party at Marquee. Joining cast members like Mos Def, Gabrielle Union and Emmanuelle Chriqui were Leonardo DiCaprio, Diddy, Ne-Yo, John Legend, Kevin Connolly, Akon and Russell Simmons.

I do actually! I've got playlists on my iPod for different characters. I have what they would listen to. I think that Molly probably listened to a lot of Beyonce [Laughs]. I think she'd also listen to Joni Mitchell—those female soulful singers. Maybe Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin...
No Lady GaGa?
She wasn't around when we made the movie [Laughs]. Who doesn't listen to Beyonce really? She's got all bases covered! I definitely have a pop aesthetic although I like my XX and other indie bands. Something in me is satisfied and fed by pop music.

Alicia Keys Talks Beyonce Collaboration
After taking the world by storm with her memorable appearance on Jay-Z’s triumphant “Empire State of Mind,” Alicia Keys has now switched gears for a highly anticipated collabo with Beyonce on her forthcoming LP, “The Element of Freedom.”
Speaking on the track from her World Aids Benefit concert in New York City on Wednesday night (December 2), Keys spoke exclusively with BET News Correspondent Sharon Carpenter about “Put It In A Love Song.” The track, which is slated to appear on the singer's December 15th release was constructed out of pure fun and completely organic, according to Keys.
“Someone’s in London, someone’s in NYC and you send it via internet and they send it back," Keys told Carpenter. "You’re feeling it, you talk on the phone, but the real way is to really be in the studio together, which we were.”
“We just had a party in the studio," she continued. "It was such a genuine energy, we clicked, we connected. We’ve known each other for a lot of years and obviously this is the first time that we’ve been able to collaborate, so it was unforgettable. Can’t wait for you to hear it.” [Click here to listen to Alicia Keys' "Put It In A Love Song" featuring Beyonce.]
Though contributors and producers for “Put It In A Love Song” have yet to be revealed, Keys assured Carpenter that her and Beyonce’s tag team, in addition to the song's elements, provide a great ambiance. “The song, when you hear it, there’s just a great mixture,” Keys explained. “It just felt like….the two of us together would be a the perfect mixture on this song, big pianos, big beats, ill flows and a great hook.”
In regards to matching schedules, Alicia believes fate was the common denominator that brought the two songbirds together. “I reached out and she was like, ‘You’re never going to believe it, but I came back to New York those exact three days you said.’ It was just meant to be. There’s no other way that this was going to happen.”

Alicia Keys: Beyonce is like sister
Alicia Keys has said she thinks of Beyonce like a sister.
The pair got together to record a duet - called Put It In A Love Song - for Alicia's new album The Element Of Freedom, and the singer said they had a blast.
"Her and I together was like reunited sisters - most people get in the studio and don't get a chance to really collaborate, be in one room, we were in one room having a ball," she gushed.

He pauses for a moment, and then for good measure adds one last piece of high-flying praise: "And as a dancer, there's not a step you can give her that she can't pick up."

Cheryl Cole: I was obsessed with Beyonce
The Geordie lass attempted to imitate her look
Style icon Cheryl Cole once dyed her hair blonde because she wanted to look like Beyonce Knowles.
In 1999 - when Cheryl was just 15 - Destiny's Child were singing about female empowerment and looking hot.
‘Beyonce's just a star. She's just got it. She's everything a woman should be and everything you should want to be as a woman,' says Cheryl, 26.
‘I was obsessed with her. I remember seeing the video for Bills, Bills, Bills and just going, "Oh my God, who is this girl? I want my hair like hers".
‘I literally went and got my hair bleached peroxide blonde. It took eight hours and looked horrendous.'
Cheryl loved Beyonce's OTT outfits, too.
‘I always wanted that urban, baggy jeans look,' Cheryl tells Stylist. 'I'd cut things up and experiment, it always went dreadfully wrong.'

~Lady Gaga~
Evidence: An artist that came to stardom in the summer of '08, Lady Gaga certified herself as a force when her single "Just Dance" knocked Beyonce's "Single Ladies" from it's 4 week run at the #1 spot on Billboard. But these two ladies didn't become competition, instead they joined forces- after meeting for the second time (the first was at the 2009 MTV VMAs where they both walked away with 3 awards) at Beyonce's ceremony for Billboard Woman Of The Year (where Gaga was also celebrated as Billboard's Rising Star Of The Year), Beyonce asked the daring pop star to work on a song and music video together for Beyonce's single "Video Phone." Then came Lady Gaga's song "Telephone" which features Beyonce. Together these two ladies are a Montser of force to be reckoned with.
Quote
Lady Gaga and Beyoncé have apparently found a quite a kinship in one another and have become good friends quickly. While it might seem that the two superstars would be worlds apart it terms of image, sound and vibe, but at the end of the day there's no question that they're two of the hardest working women in pop music today.
And perhaps those personality traits made it easy for the two of them to bond and collaborate with one another. Since the 2009 Video Music Awards, where both women won awards, their paths have been crossing quite frequently — and they've worked together on two projects so far.
The first to appear will be Beyoncé's clip for "Video Phone." Not many details have emerged about the Hype Williams-helmed video, which was shot in Brooklyn, New York, last month.
The pair also collaborated on a new song, "Telephone," that will appear on the forthcoming deluxe reissue of Gaga's debut LP, dubbed The Fame Monster, which includes eight new songs and is slated for release on November 23 (Gaga's Monster Ball Tour launches in Montreal four days later).
Gaga had nothing but praise for B when she sat down with MTV News for a long interview on Tuesday.
"You know she is such a beautiful person, and I gotta tell you, I just adore her," she said. "I had kind of lost faith a little bit in meeting artists in the business — and then I met Beyoncé."
She also spoke briefly about how much fun the two of them have together. "She is a real, real woman," Gaga said. "I have never laughed so hard on a video set in my life. We had the best time doing 'Video Phone.' "

Viewers may have been surprised to see a new side of Beyoncé when she assumed the role of good-girl-gone-bad Honey B in the video for Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” But that was all part of Gaga’s plan, she tells “Big Boy’s Neighborhood.”
“We definitely get along. She’s a good friend of mine and I was so excited to make this video with her. The video in a lot of ways is more about her even than it is about me. It was sort of a pop-art venture for me to bring her into my world. In a way, the video is an attempt for her and I to erase pop music as we know it up until this very point. It’s meant to change the perspective of the world on what a pop music video should be and she’s kind of the vehicle for that. In reality, more people around the world are familiar with her aesthetics than they are with mine. It was something for me to kind of change the way that you see her for one video.”

Gaga had only the nicest things to say about Queen B. “We’re not competitive at all,” she told Seacrest. “We’re so different, you know, and we respect each other so much. She’s so kind. We get along. She was very courageous in this video. I mean, can you imagine me saying, ‘Okay, now, Beyoncé, now you have to call me a very bad girl and feed me a honey bun’?…She trusted me because she likes my work, and she trusted me because she knew that I love her and that it’s a mutual respect. It ended up being a masterpiece because she was so courageous.”

What is your attitude towards collaboration with peers in the pop music scene? Is it an idea which scares, excites, or even interests you?
At this moment, I don't want to do any collaborations, especially contemporary ones. I want to stand on my own two feet. This new album is my chance to create what in 20 years will be seen as my iconic moment. That's what you should always aim at. Today, collaborations are about appealing to a wider market and gaining radio plays and album sales, above artistic integrity. She is a real good person, Beyonce, I mean I would say she is my favorite contemporary person in pop music. She is a lovely, lovely person and she is so kind. I don't know how anyone could ever say one bad thing about her, to be honest.

Evidence: A fearless musician, MIA entered America's mainstream scene when her song "Paper Planes" became a smash on the Billboard Hot 100. From there, a part of her song was sampled and used for a track that featured some of the best and brightest rappers- including Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z.

She’s like super. Shes like harder, faster, stronger. In our lifetime, Beyoncé will be a classic, like how people talk about Aretha Franklin.

~Makeba Riddick~
Evidence:
Quote
Shortly after her phone rang again. Columbia Records called about the song and Beyonce, who was prepping her sophomore solo disc, wanted it for herself -- and Jay-Z would put a verse on it.
“Once again I’m like ‘really,’ ” she says laughing. “I didn’t believe it until I was walking in the door to meet her, and that’s when I started getting nervous. I came in the room and from the minute we shook hands it was like we were distant cousins. Like we had known each other in a past life or something because we clicked. I’ve never clicked with an artist the way we did. Same with Rihanna, which was more like a big sister, little sister [relationship]. With Beyonce we were closer in age. We just had a ball and before I knew it three weeks had gone by and the album was done.”
The track, “Deja Vu,” was picked as the first single, and scored Riddick another No. 1 single. Of the 10 tracks on the original album released in 2006, Riddick had her hand in writing half, including singles “Upgrade U” and “Get Me Bodied,” rightfully earning her the nickname of “Golden Girl.”
“It was crazy to me when we were done. That was a whirlwind,” Riddick says. “Every day we would be talking for hours -- that’s how those songs came about. It was fun, that’s how you should make an album. It amazes me how a regular girl from Baltimore from the inner city has the same life experiences as a girl from Houston, Texas. You forget that she’s Beyonce until a L’Oreal commercial comes on.”

Hermione Eyre of the London Independent spoke with Mary J. Blige in a Q&A session and asked the singer about being engaged, her watch collection, working with Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, who she would name as her successor, and who she’s looking forward to meeting in heaven. On the successor question, Blige responded, “So many of ‘em, from Ashanti to India Arie. Although she don’t dress like me, her lyrics are like mine. You see, I’m smart, I pay attention! It would have to be between Beyoncé and Lauryn [Hill] – they are the two that were inspired. They didn’t just copy the whole thing. They took it and did their own little thing with it. I respect that. That other stuff, it’s like ‘you just copied the whole entire thing’ [hoots of laughter]. That’s cool, though. Beyonce – I’m really proud of her. That honey is doing movies, she’s doing modelling, she’s a business woman.”

Beyonce Interview in Allure Magazine February 2010:
Her turns as a '60s singer in Dreamgirls and as a strung-out Etta James in Cadillac Records have earned her praise from critics; the latter portrayal even got a rave from Meryl Streep. "Meryl just said how much she loved the performance, and how raw it was," Beyonce says, still incredulous. "I mean, anything from Meryl Streep is like..." She trails off. “I want to be like Beyoncé,” Cyrus told Seventeen. “She is the ultimate woman.
“You look at her and you don’t think, ‘I wonder what her personal life is like’. You look at her and you go, ‘That girl on the stage is a superstar’.”
She added: “You don’t care about anything else; you only care about her music. So I would hope that would be me in the future.”

2. she tweeted about Obsessed a lot back when it came out: the sequel to Obsessed is Unhinged, the story of a girl driven mad bc she hasnt seen Obsessed yet | "did you guys see Obsessed 2: Unhinged? Beyonce head butts the hell out of Mindy Kaling."

Miranda Lambert is well- known for her strong female anthems such as 'Gunpowder and Lead,' 'Kerosene,' 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' and 'White Liar,' but there's also a softer, more feminine side to the Texas whirlwind that she would like to be able to show off more.
Maybe an alter ego is in store to show that softer side, such as the case with 'Sasha Fierce,' a character created by R&B superstar Beyoncé, of whom Miranda is a big fan. "I feel like the older I'm getting and the more I'm not some crazy kid with a chip on my shoulder as much as I was," Miranda tells The Boot. "I kind of wish I had an alter ego so that I could not have to be in character if I don't want to."
Miranda admits she plays up her tough-girl image because that's part of who she is. "But," she adds with a laugh, " I love to bake cookies. And I love makeup, and I have this girly side that's really only just starting to show because of 'Revolution' and some of those songs. I'm gonna ponder that, because I figure if Beyoncé could have an alter ego, I should follow her because it's always good to follow greatness."

The 18-year-old British singer was nominated for four awards and won Best UK Act and Best Push Artist, but was delighted to breathe the same air as the Crazy In Love star.
Pixie said: "I didn't actually meet her but we were in the same area as the other nominees and Beyonce had just performed, she was absolutely amazing and she was literally sitting right next to us and I was like, 'ahhh, oh my god!' - she is just amazing."

"Speaking about the 'Sweet Dreams' hit maker, 19-year-old Essex singer Lott said: "Beyonce is an idol of mine.
"She is an all-round talent and pulls it all off – great shows, dancing and acting. And, of course, she has an incredible voice." She gushed.
Pixie was also in the same building as Knowles once, but the pair never spoke.
She recalled to the Daily Star: "Though I was standing right next to her at the MTV EMAs I didn't actually get to talk to her. She is always being so fussed over, so I didn't want to interrupt and barge in."

Evidence (by Superfly Sister): Prince! He said she was the real deal, and an amazing talent. He called himself "such a fan" and said she has impeccable rhythm and pitch. Let's see, he said when rehearsing for their Grammy performance, he had her sing with a live band and he thought it was beautiful and nearly teared up. He applauded her backstage after the performance. He believes she has a real passion for music. And he covered Suga Mama lol. He's a real stan.

Prince: Oh, I, uh...I pride myself on working with great musicians, and I consider her to be as such. She's an amazing talent, the real deal, so she just fell right into it. It was no problem whatsoever.
Tavis: How did that performance come about? I mean, you decide to do whatever you want to do on your own terms, but how did that actually come to be?
Prince: Well, the producer, Ken Ehrlich, had been hounding me every year to do something, and this year we have a new record coming out, so...and a tour scheduled, so I thought if this was...if this was gonna be the year, then I wanted to do something special. Then the notion of working with Beyonce came about, and that made it extra special 'cause I'm such a fan, so I mean...

Prince: At least in the movies, a successful actor can get $20 million. It's not like that in the music business. Destiny's Child brought in $93 million last year. How much do you think they themselves actually got? It's totally unequal.
Record executives will say, "Destiny's Child made $93 million last year." You ask them, "Why did Destiny's Child themselves only get $4 million of that money?" I mean, have you heard Beyoncé sing? Puh-leeze! She ain't even 20, and she's got a voice like that! Let's kick it up to $30 million. Is that fair? They won't answer. They'll say, "You don't understand...."

As the actual Grammy show got under way, Prince and Beyoncé had just set the house on fire and finished an onstage ceremony of sorts that TV viewers didn't see, where P laid his handkerchief out on the floor for Beyoncé to walk on. After the singer obliged, Prince began clapping. You get the feeling if the phrase weren't so played out, Prince would've told her, "You go, girl!"

Prince also says after working with Beyonce, he can be counted among her legions of fans. "It was cool working with Beyonce because she's a real talent, really cares about music," he said. "She seems to have a relationship with the music that we all have, which means that she does it naturally. When the music starts she'll move naturally, and she has impeccable rhythm and pitch."

"She seems to have a relationship with the music ... which means that she does it naturally, like really naturally. After one rehearsal we played one of her tunes with my band, because usually she sings with tracks and I wanted to hear her sing with a live band, and it was," Prince said, pausing to take out a handkerchief and act like he was wiping away tears, "you don't even want to know. It was good."

13 APRIL 2004
Beyonce and her boyfriend Jay-Z will soon be enjoying a bootylicious dinner at Buckingham Palace, at the behest of Prince Charles.
After the R&B diva agreed to perform at the Prince's Trust Urban Music Festival in London next month, it seems the Prince of Wales wanted to show his appreciation by treating her and her partner to some royal hospitality.
According to press reports, the chart-topping couple will be collected by Charles' chauffeur-driven limousine and taken to the palace for a meal of organic foods and fine wine. The 22-year-old and her rapper beau are both receiving etiquette classes to make sure there are no embarrassing faux-pas.

Prince William Fancies Beyonce
The Sun reports that when Beyonce Knowles was sitting next to the Prince Charles in the royal seats at Party In The Park, he told her that his son William “fancies” her. “I went red in the face and couldn’t believe it!” Beyonce said afterwards. “He was very charming. We spoke for a few minutes and he told me that both his sons have my album. He then said, ‘Between you and me, I think Wills fancies you.’ I’m sure William can’t believe that his father said that and I’m sure Charles will be in trouble when he gets home. I’m thrilled though — Wills is very good-looking.”

- Recently busted out singing Single Ladies in the middle of a videoblog
- Does a dance routine to "Diva" in her current tour
- Attended LA Show
- When talking about her performing something to the extent of "I do my best, but dont put me on the same stage as Beyonce"

Beyoncé Leaves Rihanna Starstruck
It’s hard to believe that Rihanna attended her first major concert only six years ago, and now she’s performing at the same events with the stars she once looked up to.
The 21-year-old singer shared her first concert experience with iTunes. “My very first arena concert was Beyoncé/Alicia Keys/Missy Elliott [in 2004]. I think it was the ‘Ladies First’ tour,” she said.
Despite her bad seats, she will always remember that special night. “I was in like a nosebleed seat, but I was in tears. I could not believe that Beyoncé was right there, and Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott.”
Rihanna was in awe of the artists she now considers her peers. “I was a little starstruck. No, I was very starstruck, but it was so much fun. It was very inspiring and it motivated me so much.”
