I started to watch the Viz Media release of the original series. It looks so great on Blu-Ray, the nostalgia is killing me! But I'm still not a fan of the voices yet.
I can't wait to have the rest of the season and the other ones too.
The animation from the last episode was great. My biggest complaint is that the senshi sometimes come off as lifeless since we don't really get much personality from them, but I love the fact that they actually fight and don't rely on Sailor Moon to protect them... They even mentioned in the last episode something along the lines of "our job is to protect Sailor Moon, not be protected by her," which I love.
This was a major flaw of the original anime so I'm glad they can actually defeat enemies without her assistance or Tuxedo Mask's.
Mars' face looks bad, but the hair is so poorly drawn. What is her hair made out of and what direction is the wind blowing? A damn mess. They really don't like her.
The animation for this episode is so flawed, especially coming off the last episode and three week break... Our last three week break gave us the immaculate Jupiter episode!!
They also toned down the homoeroticism from the manga.
When I say homoeroticism I'm exaggerating. But in the manga in chapter 11 in almost every single one of the panels where Furu appears he has his arm flung around Mamoru like a sloth.
Also in some translation variations I remember Mamoru saying "you're mine" or something like that when hypnotizing Furu
Our last three week break gave us the immaculate Jupiter episode!!
