I use to be like you, and got into an argument with my mum about gender equality, and then I realize that I don't really want a chick bossing me around. She'll just give me headache. I wasn't being realistic. I live in a culture where women tend to marry above them, and look for a man who can take care of her. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that, nor do I think there's anything wrong with an independent woman. But I'm African who wants a patner who understands my culture, so something you would call submissive wife isn't going to be something hard to find. It isn't even hard to find in the West.... That doesn't make me barbaric. There can only be one head to a relationship, and I'd be damned if that ever becomes a women in my situation.

Different gender roles? The best example is that in western countries it is more common for women to work than in eastern countries.

I have lived in a very affluent community all of my life, so this may be an exception, but many of the women I have met don't necessarily seek that, but perhaps gravitate toward a man like that naturally. But generally, I don't know if most women do that or not. I think that there is a shift going on, and more women are becoming more reliant on themselves and not solely just the man.

Do NOT apply your hetreosexual gender stereotypes/roles to our homosexual relationships. Most gay relationships I know share decision-making.

Rigggght. I guess I'll have to take you word for it. But surely if there is a disagreement, one person is going to have to take the highroad if a decision is ever going to be made. That person is called the submissive person in the relationship, and that tends to be the female with straight couples
