There was no one like Katy at the time she came out, she is one of the reasons why pop music exploded again (along with Rihanna), then came Gaga, Ke$ha, etc, before Katy most girls had to act like the girl next door (à la Britney) to be successful, after Katy everyone had to pretend they were lesbians, hermaphrodites, drunk *****s to get people's attention

Just because you and your various other illiterate clones dwell here all day and attack anyone who dares tell the truth about your plastic bag of a queen does not mean that non-fans can't post here as well. I'm simply trying to educate you, but I see quite of a few of you have yet to graduate from elementary school. I see why an album titled Teenage Dream, of course by a 27-year old, would appeal to you.

Chances are, if Katy Perry is in the title her fans will also be in the thread. You can stay talking about a woman you hate, in a thread surrounded by her "illiterate clones" all you want, but don't complain about it.

Oh so she's a follower by her own doing then?

All we're doing is defending...i didn't see any comments that's motives weren't justified.

So now she's the devil herself because she made a mistake? People make mistakes, she's not a saint but she's not the devil herself. I don't know anything about that incident, but we don't know any detail of it, maybe she apologized to him later...we don't know.

She's saying that her ex boyfriend should've been gay because he liked dressing and acting flamboyantly. Please stop trying to delude yourself that Ur So Gay is not homophobic. It may not be homophobic in the sense that Katy Perry is not outwardly saying "I hate gays", but the song is clearly an angry message to her ex about why he should've been gay based on the fact that he wore tight clothes, liked Myspace, and was flamboyant.
|
I don't care if she's a trend follower or a trend setting, I'm replying to you because you are being rude and judgemental.
But in what way is she being homofobic by telling her exboyfriend should've been gay...? She's not saying being gay is bad.

Lemme get my argument on how she's a follower, and my grammar will be ******;
OOTB wasn't all that following a trend. TD started the following. TT 2.0 released as a sure fire hit for the summer, TD released for another hit (best song released & on the album), Firework following the empowerment trend, E.T. collaboration w/ a HUGE rapper like many artists do, LFN released for a #1 but failed, released a rushed remix to make it a #1, & TOTGA released for another #1, also trying to break MJ's record. + All of the songs are radio friendly, generic songs that of course would be hits, also using her sex+girl next door image to sell. I'll wait for you.

I'd also like to add that when she was playing the nerd in LFN she was playing a character. I guess every actor that supports equal rights, and plays nerdy kid, or a jock, or geek, a lesbian, is a hypocrite.
|
I never said Katy Perry was copying Lady Gaga. I was saying she was following the pro-gay rights, pro-love yourself trend that Lady Gaga and a few others set in motion.
And I wouldn't have a problem with Katy playing this nerdy role on its own, but her history of hypocrisy and ignorance about gay rights and LGBTQ issues points to her motivation for Firework (which on its own is a great, supportive message) being not genuine. Why release a song meant to empower outcasts like Firework and then go back on yourself only months later by creating an alter ego that makes fun of outcasts?

katy wasnt afraid to talk about the controversial an touchy topic of the gay community (Ur So Gay and I Kissed A Girl). her wipped cream bra, her having an album all about teenage love and fun, she had an inspiring song Firework (and incase you dont know Firework was released before Born This Way and FW has way outsold BTW, also look at the views the 2 videos on youtube have, i laugh at the small amout of views BTW has). Her theme in the California Gurls video of being apart of candy land. Her E.T. music video where she was an alien, her having fireworks out her breast, being a neird in a music video, jumping into a cake durin an I Kissed A Girl performance (funnest thing ever), her coming from the roof attached to a snowboard during a California Gurls performance, her fruit theme and Candy theme tours and outfits, i can keep going but then i might make you look completely dumb. oh yeah one last thing, colored wigs... yeah that was Katy who brought them back

Actually... Katy brought back the trend of throwing on artist onto songs to get more success on the charts. And it worked. And MANY followed.
Now that I think about it, she isnt as much as a follower as I thought. Shes an incredible business woman.

Katy was one of the first ones if not the first to start that trend with Firework.

Wrong honey, katy has been around 2 years longer than Gaga. Katy was the one who first touched on the topic with her first to singles. Gaga saw they great response her songs on gays got, so decided to join the gay rights topic and go all out
