I know 'Take A Bow' isn't a favorite among Madonna stans but it is one of my all time favorites. Not only does it have a perfect music video but the lyrics are just so sad. It seems to have been an important single for her.

I agree completely - yet seems to be generally hated by her fans (especially here on ATRL). I guess it's because it does not portray that typical Madonna attitude her fans love.

It definitely paved the way to Evita and it's the single that introduced that entire 'Ballad-Donna' feel of the 90s.

It remains one of her best album closers, just perfect

I dunno, I came here one time to rave about it and someone called it sappy and blah before hand so I just kept it cute. It's my most rotated song atm. It's making me feel a lot of different things and I tried imaging how she must have felt when she wrote it.

I just started playing the 'Bedtime Stories' album by starting 'Survival and as soon as I did that the sun starts shining right in that moment after a rainy day here - the positivity of Survival ha power

Take A Nap and Perish are the two songs that separate me from the rest of Madonna stans I think.

(I'd feel differently if Perish was on TB where it belonged, and TAB didn't close out Bedtime Stories. Sanctuary/the title track was robbed. )

"Take a Bow" is a well-made, well-written AC pop song. But that's it, it's boring.

I also kinda dislike it 'cuz it's the one song on Bedtime Stories that obviously pandered to the mainstream/radio... and of course it became her longest-running #1. And that's pretty much the reason why people see it as her "more commercial" album after Erotica, just because it isn't as cold/contrarian.
