And personally, I hate Best Thing I Never Had. To me, if that song was left off the album it would have been a masterpiece. That one song choice weighs it down a bit.

Well he's adding his own things to it.
But we don't even know what the theme would have been, he doesn't know it either. The only thing we know is that they took a few uptempo songs off the album and replaced it with midtempo's and ballads when she knew she was pregnant. Just because RTW had a apocalyptic feel to it doesn't mean the whole album would be like that. I'm 100% certain that from the ballads and midtempos on the album 1+1, I Care, I Miss You, Love On Top and Party would've been on the original album. I think she added Best Thing I Never Had, Rather Die Young, Start Over and I Was Here. Well we know she added I Was Here because it was the last song she recorded just in time for the album.
