Challenge #1 - Best Single - Judges Comments
4AM. / Taylor Swift - Tell Me Why
Cupid - I seriously freaking love this song. Confession, during her first/second album I was a huge fan. This was always one of my favorites and I rarely see it being talked about so it definitely fits in being underrated.
Prometheus. - One of my favorite Taylor non-singles and I thought I was the only person to not pay it dust. Glad someone else sees it my way!
collin - I'm not blown away, I'll be honest, but this is a great song and a great part of the Swift brand and I understand why you chose it.
Zune - As a sort of Swifty supporter myself, I was not entirely convinced as to why this song was greater then say an album cut off of Speak Now. With that prolonged thought, I will say the song did help her in forming a good foundation for creating the Speak Now album. So I will give you points in a good song choice.
BlazingLovatic / Cheryl Cole - Parachute
Cupid - You literally lost me in the opening words "one of her best selling singles" kind of defeats the whole purpose of being underrated. I tried to give you a fair chance here but Parachute is loved by almost everyone who knows Cheryl's music, you had a chance to showcase some lesser known songs which deserve more. Disappointed!
Prometheus. - Definitely one of her underrated singles, but she has album tracks that deserve a little more recognition. I love this song, though. Plays in my work all the time.
collin - I think this challenge would have been better to use a non-single, but I do think the reasons you gave for choosing this one were kind of unique. Also, allow me to say that I believe there's a reason that Call My Name and Fight For This Love are more popular to this day.
Zune - In knowing a bit of Chezza's music, I do know most of her album content (aside from A Million Lights) is.... So in choosing this single, I doubt the song actually gets underrated, in fact I hear more often then not people love this song from Cheryl (I just loathe the album version of the song, the radio edit>>>). Rant aside, I felt your rant about the song being underrated simply by the video views was not entirely the way to show the song is underrated. I would have wanted to hear more about the song content, lyrics, production, something above it only getting 10,000 daily views in comparison to 30,000 daily views with Call My Name and Fight For This Love.
Bloomers / Drake - From Time
Cupid - This was cute but it was also bordering on boring, I was hoping to see a different side of Drake with this entry but I feel like it's a lessor version of your first entry. I liked the explanation though.
Prometheus. - Cute track. Sometimes I feel like Drake songs all sound the same just different singers and a slightly altered back beat. Still a good song. It gets brownie points from me never hearing of it previously.
collin - Interesting selection. I would agree that this is an amazing song, great part of Drake's brand... but I'm not sure I would call it his MOST underrated song. Regardless, nice one.
Zune - I find it funny that this song sounds like a cousin of Jhene Aiko's The Worst at the beginning . Your right to say its instrumental is just simplistic and yet beautiful (also thankfully to Jhene's vocals as well). Your explanation was pretty much what I wanted to see in an entry. Excellent.
BlooRiverAnimal / Ke$ha - The Harold Song
Cupid - The Harold Song, underrated? Funny because I see Ke$ha stans all over ATRL call it her best song ever. Even though I do agree it's a flawless song, i'm not sure it quite fits with underrated, it's kind of known as one of her best.
Prometheus. - I feel like this song is fairly well known in the Ke$ha fan world and it gets a lot of praise from what I've seen. I don't know if this is the best choice, but it's definitely one of my favorite Ke$ha tracks. Loved the entry!
collin - Nailed it. This is exactly the definition of an underrated song. Had this have been released, nothing would have been the same for her, and in a good way.
Zune - A song that Kesha has a good amount content lyrically to it

I cannot think really how to comment for this because I liked your explanation for this especially in the second paragraph. I'm also taken a bit in thinking "this is the same Ke$ha who sang about Dying Young and having the place Blow? ". Excellent work.
Citrus / Cher - Classified 1A
Cupid - Whilst I can obviously appreciate notcommercial and it's brilliance, being a huge Cher fan, I feel like you may have thrown yourself in at the deep end here. Last round the judges barely praised Dark Lady, one of her best hits, I kind of feel like you took a huge risk here. Whilst I do love the song and I do think it's underrated, I feel like you could have gone with a better fit, but then again she has so many songs to work with. Maybe you tried to take us too deep too soon?
Prometheus. - If it's underrated, it should stay that way. It's an okay track, but I would definitely never listen to it again. Not a fan of the vocals, the background music or the lyrics. I liked your entry, though. Never knew that about the album!
collin - Ooh, this is quite a treat. Everything about this song is one-of-a-kind: the origin, the lyricism, the album it was on. Underrated is a great word for it.
Zune - Hmmm. I can agree with selecting one of Cher's works from this nit.commercial album was a great picking on your part. I'm also thankful you gave me a bit of background on the premise of what the song was about since I didn't get it after listening to the song at first. I do see the passion in how this song was sung as well as the strong message behind the song. To be honest, I wouldn't presonally be interested in playing this song over and over, but I do take from this an anticipation to hear more from this album with an added respect of the albums content. Good work.
Cristhian / Spirit
Cupid - This is like some spiritual version of Club Tropicana. And for a b-side nonetheless, it's brilliant.
Prometheus. - Let me add Sade to my sig. Let me check up for ha on bandsintown. Each round, I'm becoming a bigger Sade fan. Your song choice was impeccable. I had never heard of this song and glad I do now!
collin - You sure this is her BEST song? Seems a bit one-sided, but this is a good choice nonetheless. It's a shame when a B-side gets thrown under the bus.
Zune - Well I think Smooth Operator is Sade's best single, so if you think Spirit, the B-Side to their best single, is their best song I find it oddly funny two of Sade's best work came off of one release . In listening to the track, I see your highlights from the second paragraph being true except your last sentence. Are you sure this is really Sade's best song? I'm kind of left underwhelmed and I feel as though the track doesn't have much of a clear message to it aside from embracing people to keep the faith. I do like your confidence in your entry however.
e437 / Kelly Clarkson - You Love Me
Cupid - I really do love this song, the production is just pop perfection. It's an 80's throwback of pure deliciousness. The lyrics however.... Kelly said she wrote this in 10 minutes and it shows. It's kind of the example of why she get's labelled as not being progressive musically. It's also really well-liked among her fans but I do think it's rather underrated overall among her discography as a whole, if you look past the lyrics.
Prometheus. - I think she has more underrated material, but this is, too, I guess.
collin - This is okay. I like the twist on this of how it was about to be a single and was snubbed, but otherwise I'm not too blown away.
Zune - My friend, who is a Kelly Clarkson stan, absolutely lives for this song. I think your entry needed some more reasoning to pick this song over say Honestly. I do agree You Love Me is an underrated track but I needed a bit more detail for your entry overall.
EmRiNavy / Rihanna - The Last Song
Cupid - This song is amazing, it really showcases a whole different side of Rihanna that isn't normally shown. It often gets overlooked because she has so many BIG songs and a lot of Rated R gets so much praise. You kind of nailed it.
Prometheus. - I am so glad you sent this in. Poor The Last Song, gets all the shine taken away from it from CCL. One of my favorite Rihanna songs, I was hoping for Farewell until I saw your entry!
collin - Of all the underrated Rihanna songs, I was not expecting this... but hey, there are worse options. I do enjoy this one. I think the fact that I wasn't expecting this makes it a good choice for the round.
Zune - I feel like this song does get a shout out here and there from fans, but I can agree this song is underrated in general. In your entry itself, I loved the extensive detail you put into pointing out the aspects of the song that made it stand out over other Rihanna songs. I would have wanted to see a notion to point out Rated R is an underrated album for those who are not familiar with Rihanna's line of work and sell that more in your entry. I'm saying that in the argument one could make is ________ from Unapologetic is more underrated then The Last Song. I needed to be more sold on that part. Good Entry overall.
EuphorianSea / Christina Aguilera - Dreamy Eyes
Cupid - I seem to remember saying no unreleased songs, oops!
Prometheus. - Pending....
collin - This is unreleased? What a mistake. Although I think you had some more interesting options, this wasn't half bad.
Zune - Oh at this being some unleaked track from 2000 okay. For being the age she was recording this song, this track is indeed strong in its passion and has a striking passion. For me the lyrics and her vocal passion really aided me to be drawn into this song. I do like the selection since i do agree this is an underrated track, but I would prefer that you would have picked something she has officially released since there is some sort of reason this song was never released.
Ferst / Katy Perry - Choose Your Battles
Cupid - I kind of let out a huge sigh when I saw this entry. You sent in a song which gets nicknamed "Choose Your Grammys" for "Most Underrated"...

I guess this is kind of love it or hate it. I'm torn. I'd much rather you went with By The Grace.. or something from OOTB.
Prometheus. - Not really underrated, IMO. Granted the GP pays it Bonus Track dust, but I think it's just as underrated as other bonus tracks are.
collin - Spiritual is better But I appreciate the use of this song. Definitely one of the better parts of PRISM and it's a shame she gets slapped on the wrist for making something beautiful like this.
Zune - See I'm one of the people who wasn't totally convinced this song was a masterpiece and is bland/boring. Your explanation wasn't as convincing as I was hoping it would be. See one cannot just sat its vocals are amazing and expect me to be okay with that being part of the reason this track is underrated Same thing with the response for explaining why the production of the song was underrated. Overall I needed more Ferst.
****YesLovato / Demi Lovato - For The Love Of A Daughter
Cupid - What kind of heart-wrench. Definitely underrated. My only complaint is she started to get shouty, she should have kept the calm voice from the beginning of the song. But your explanation was really touching.
Prometheus. - YAS FYesLovato YAAASSSS. Anything from Unbroken would have gotten a 10 from me. Great album full of underrated tracks.
collin - Ooh, wow... I've never paid attention to this. How beautiful.
Zune - I liked some of the points you made in your entry as to why this is an underrated Demi Lovato track. I would have liked a few more points as to why, say, the lyrics were part of the reason for your selection. You could have really worked the whole songwriter angle of this track. Pretty decent entry I must say.
GetYourAssInMyBed / iamamiwhoami - idle talk
Cupid - Hm I can kind of agree with your points, but I wasn't as overwhelmed as I was in round 1.
Prometheus. - Cute track. Definitely hard to judge this round for you, but it counts and views don't lie!
collin - This is also my favorite song BY FAR from iamamiwhoami. And I have noticed it gets paid dust. Why is that, anyways? I guess with the unique formats in which they use for release make for easy dust-paying.
Zune - I said something similar to Ferst, I would have prefered to see certain notes about what makes this track underrated. From the lyrics more specifically since the songs production is simplistic and yet beautiful.
GoddessofLove / Lady Gaga - Swine
Cupid - You really aren't making this game easy on yourself are you, sweetie. You won me over with your first two points, but when I got to the part praising her vocals...... Just no. Vocally it's dreadful and the production is just a bad rip-off. I don't hate it as much as I did after reading your explanation, but i'm still not won over.
Prometheus. -
Tacky production, awkward lyrics, the screeching, the live performances... I don't understand a lick of praise this song receives.
collin - Ugh, okay, you struck gold with me. I'm gonna try not to be biased but this is one of my favorite Gaga songs ever and I hate that it's so hated. However, I do think there may be other choices that were amazing for this round... so I'm torn. But amazing choice.
Zune - my first words that came out of my mouth when almost beginning to review your entry (and not know what song you selected), I blurted "Oh my gosh, no" As for your explanation, I liked where you took your entry. I however was seeking a few more details in the second and third paragraph of your entry since you did point out some good facts about why you felt the song was underrated. Despite our differences, I felt you made a decent argument in why you thought this was an underrated track.
iHype. / Mariah Carey - I'll Be Loving U Long Time
Cupid - Why did you go for something so new?! I would have loved an old jam. I do love the song and think it's slightly underrated, but in terms of being her MOST underrated, I'm not buying it.
Prometheus. - Fun fact: This was the first Mariah song I ever consciously heard and loved. When I first heard it I thought it was world renowned! But yes, very underrated!
collin - No excuse for this to not have smashed, pfffff! Underrated is a good word for it.
Zune - When reading this entry, I really felt the number of sentences dedicated to the songs chart reign really hurt your entry more then helped it. Sure it is important to note how the song was underrated as a single by the GP, but that should not be the entire explanantion of your entry. I would have liked to see different aspects of the song noted as to why this song was underrated, from the lyrics to the production. I did see you did state it was a summery like song and T.I. laid down a good verse, but I needed more depth then that to prove this song is underrated as the challenge called for "Basically which song do you think deserves more attention and recognition". I felt that quote was missing from your entry almost completely.
Jax / Azealia Banks -
Cupid - This is a little too Kreayshawn and not enough Banks. But you're lucky I kind of love it. Most Banks songs kind of are underrated, besides the obvious few, so I feel like you got it easy. But I'm glad you went for an older song like this.
Prometheus. - Slay antique Azealia! Definitely nothing like the rest of her discography. Great choice!
collin - Y-a-s, this P-U-S-S-Y and Hood Bitch lie in the holy trinity of pre-fame Azealia bops that will always be overlooked.
Zune - jax. this was not what I wanted to see in your entry at all. When you say statements like "Barbie **** is something Azealia hasn't ever done before and no songs by her are similar to this underrated gem." and "Maybe one day Barbie **** will get the same recognition and acclaim as her other older tracks. " this was your moment to tell me why this song was underrated. To be more clear what I'm talking about, what about the lyrics or production is underrated? since the challenge called for you to tell us "Basically which song do you think deserves more attention and recognition", this was lost in your entry altogether unfortunately.
(to be continued...)
