Just skip straight to issue #23 tbh. G. Willow Wilson's arc on X-Men, while obnoxiously short, is fantastic.

Storm and the first five issues of Cyclops are good too.

I don't know how DoFP could go further than Apocalypse, I mean DoFP had it all: double cast, time travel and was amazing.
