You also have to factor in Britney released her album not even a month prior to announcing it was coming out
A week before that announcement, Billboard said "There was no Britney album coming out in the near future" and I discredited that source immediately because I knew Britney was working on a new album.
I felt like this release was too rushed and shouldn't have been tied with Barbra and FGL. She should've released it either tomorrow (after the VMA performance) or sometime in September. Looking at the Target ad this week, no albums are coming out. Britney missed the greatest opportunity of her life to debut at #1.
Britney is just not that great at promoting and relies on her Army to do the work. She probably has the mentality she's the Queen of Pop and she'll always reign without any proper exposure. Honestly I'm already over it. If she debuts at #3 or #4, whatever. As long as it exceeds Britney Jean, I'll be good.
I just hope this is a jump start for her career again. She really deserves just that much.

How would releasing it on a Sunday benefit her at all, all that would do is make her lose 2 days of sales and make her debut lower on the charts.

Delaying the album to September would be pointless as well, especially considering only a niche Britney stan base is going to buy the album first week anyways.
Britney has put more effort into promoting this album that she has since 2009. :She is not lazy this time, and Britney is the last person on earth to be egotistical and view herself as the "Queen of Pop".
Ultimately, if Brit plays her cards right, she will probably sell more albums and singles than Britney Jean and will build up a new audience of younger fans. As well as helping her on streaming, which is super important. This era is Britney's recovery after Femme Fatale and Britney Jean, I'm not sure if Britney is ever going to have a smash again, but this era will put her in a good place.
