From Linda Perry's reddit Q&A:
Q: Hi Linda! What do you think is your favorite song that you've produced over the years? Any particular reasoning why?
- Candyman By Christina Aguilera it was just a super fun song i love it
Linda, can you talk to us about Hurt and Welcome? How much of it came from Mark Ronson's track/chord progressions, and how much of that was your doing? Also, what lyrics did Christina change?
- Welcome was ronson and christina and then christina wanted me to do the production and i turned it into more of a song. Hurt was two chords that mark and christina had and she asked me to turn it into a song and i went for it and what came out was a very personal song about me losing my father
Linda, are there any unreleased songs you've done with Christina Aguilera from working with her on Stripped, Back To Basics, or Bionic? And if there are, why did they not make the album?
- There are always songs left off albums for many different reasons. maybe not the right vibe or not good enough or just doesn't fit lyrically etc.
When you worked with Christina Aguilera on Stripped & Back to Basics, you made real, raw and honest R&B-driven music. Christina's last album Lotus was very commercial and in-line with the current dance-pop trend that we always hear on the radio. What are you feelings on this? If you were to work with Christina again, what direction would you now encourage her to take?
- What I have always admired about Christina is she just does what she wants to do. she really doesnt focus much on what people want from her, she explores.
Linda, how did Genie 2.0 and You Are What You Are (Beautiful) come to fruition? Did you do you do electronica versions of other Christina songs too?
- It was a fun thing to do thats all not a lot of thought went into it
Hi Linda, what are your thoughts on the status of Christina's music career and are you disappointed that she's on The Voice? What is your dream music genre for Christina?
- Am I on The XTINA forum or something? why would i be disappointed in her for being on The voice? people gotta do what they gotta do.
How did u feel about the outcome of your STRIPPED sessions with Christina, and especially the song "I'm Ok" and the theme of abuse? Does that song strike a chord with you? Were you surprised with how it ended up? When Christina performed it in 2010 for the 1st time did u feel how big the song was for people suffering with the same issues?
- Im ok is a very important song because of the topic. many people struggle with abuse on a daily basis and it totally sucks. we have to survive and move on the best we can. Art is an extension of emotions that why it is extremely important for me to always expose the truth. thank you
Linda you worked on Christina's version of "Falling In Love Again" right? What was the creative process behind the production of that? Very haunting production btw
- Well she wanted to go in a more electronic direction so i went there it was so fun to do i love those recordings
Hey Linda! I'm a real big fan of the work you have done with Christina Aguilera, I think the songs you made together are the best songs that are out there.. I really admire your work. My Question: Is there any possibility you'll be working with Christina ever again? Us fans really really hope you will, you guys are a golden couple
- Its hard to tell when souls are going to connect again. sometimes you just have to let go and just appreciate what was created. if it is meant to be it will.
How do u feel nowadays about the BODY OF WORK that is "STRIPPED"? Does it make u feel proud? Is it an album you would listen to? Can we classify it as a game-changing album like "Thriller" was?
- I love stripped it is a classic.
Linda, you said that Christina was going to make a rock album following Bionic. What happened to that? Did label interference turn the album following Bionic (Lotus) into a pop album instead?
- no idea
Linda, what direction do you think Christina should go in on her next album? Any genre in particular?
- The direction thats truly in her heart..
