I just bought the Elle Women in Music issue. It's pretty great. My favorite quotes are: "But what truly separates the Penn. born and Nashville bred Swift from the pack is the philosophy she espouses: The way you feel is who you are.....her central message is that fear and doubt and sadness aren't sources of shame, but power. "Every time you go through something heart wrenching, Swift says, "pass or fail, you know you'll survive. As hard as it is to go back to the drawing board that's what keeps life interesting." The going back to the drawing board caught my eye. Fed up with the mainstream maybe
Grimes was also one of the women listed and she talked about Taylor too "I want to be intelligent, aggressive, and adult," she says. "Taylor Swift and Nine Inch Nails at the same time."
Adele was the highlight of the piece which is fine but they picked the worst people to praise her like Katy Perry and Britney. My favorite comment was when John Mayer was falling over himself praising her and he said "sometimes talent can rot your brain". He would know about that
Also Pink, Taylor, and Adele were the only pop girls listed as the top women in music
